CONFERENCE OVERVIEW
With the introduction of the new HSC English Prescriptions for 2009, this one-day conference
provides English teachers with an opportunity to engage in workshops and presentations that are
directly relevant to teaching and learning in HSC English. The focus of the day will be on
practical, innovative approaches to teaching the new Area of Study and the Modules and
Electives. The workshops and presentations will cover:
Prescribed texts in the Standard, Advanced, Extension, and ESL HSC English courses;
Practical approaches to Modules and new Electives;
Practical approaches to prescribed texts;
Teaching film, media and multimedia at senior secondary level;
Utilising digital technology to promote and enhance learning in HSC English;
Preparing students for examinations;
Successful strategies for teaching creative writing in Stage 6;
Planning, programming, assessing and resourcing for the new Area of Study;
Board of Studies and DET support documents, resources and policies relevant to teaching HSC
English;
