FYBA Facility Monitor Position Description Overview The FYBA has been given access to the FCUSD gyms during the FYBA’s basketball season on the condition that there is someone present at each team practice who is responsible for ensuring that the facilities are properly cared for during the time that the facilities are being used by the league. The Facility Monitor, or on occasion their designate, should be present at all team practices that take place in a FCUSD facility. The Facility Monitor is responsible for monitoring the facility during the team practice, cleaning up after the practice, resetting the facility if they are the last team to practice at specific schools, and reporting any facility issues to the Facility Coordinator. The Facility Monitor is also present for the safety of the coaches and the kids. Requirements The FYBA Facility Monitor must be at least 18 years old and cannot be assigned as the team Coach or Asst. Coach. If the team does not have an Asst. Coach the Facility Monitor must be fingerprinted as part of the 2‐deep leadership of the team. Duties The FYBA Facility Monitor is responsible for the following for their team’s practice: Before Practice  Arriving a few minutes before practice starts to ensure that the facility is open. If the facility is locked the Facility Monitor will need to find the onsite janitor and have them open the facility  Being extra courteous to the school janitor and/or any other groups that may be using the facility during the team’s scheduled practice time  Noting any damage/messes at the facility prior to the team’s arrival  Moving any items (tables, chairs, etc.) that may be a safety issue during practice During Practice  Ensuring that no food or drink (non‐colored water is OK) are brought into the gyms  Ensuring that only non‐marking shoes are used in the gym  Ensuring that all non‐player siblings/minors staying at the practice are properly monitored  Checking and picking up bathrooms periodically (messes made by the players only)  Watching for player safety issues After Practice  Ensuring that the gym and bathrooms have all trash & personal items removed  If the last practice of the evening, replacing any items (tables, chairs, etc.) that were moved by a prior team. The following facilities have a specific configuration to be reset to (the configuration is posted on the wall): Carl Sundahl, Oak Chan, Folsom Hills, Theodore Judah, Sandra Gallardo  Leaving the gym as good as you found it Reporting Report any issues regarding the facility IMMEDIATELY to the Facility Coordinator (1‐855‐FYBA‐HELP, option 3)
