From the President of the Board
and the Executive Director –
2012 was another inspiring year at the Ronald McDonald House. We saw families
come in with very sick children and watched many leave with children well on the
road to recovery. To watch the strength and determination of the children, moms,
dads, and other family members is amazing. They are all dedicated to one thing –
getting their child better.

One of the most exciting events was celebrating our 30th anniversary. Since 1982,
we have been helping families with sick children find support, comfort, and a warm
bed at little or no charge. In that time, we have served over 3600 families, added a
second location to meet increasing demand, and had countless volunteers cross our
thresholds. It was a wonderful trip down memory lane to see how far we have come
and remember the difference we have made for so many families.

Our programs provide supportive and compassionate services to families whose
lives are unraveling due to a sick child and we strive to bring them comfort when
they need it most. We are honored to be a part of the team of employees, volunteers,
donors, and ambassadors of this amazing organization that is making a real
difference in the Red River Valley. Thank you doesn’t seem like enough for what you
do to keep this House a home for so many families each year.

A Year to Celebrate!
What started as a labor of love became a reality on December 17, 1982, when the Ronald McDonald
House Charities of the Red River Valley opened its doors at 1234 N Broadway in Fargo. It is because
of our great supporters that we have been able to keep the dream alive for 30 wonderful years.
An open house was held on Thursday, October 4th to celebrate this momentous occasion! The
staff wanted to have this event early enough to dodge the snowfall, but wouldn’t you know the
first snow of the year came that day! Luckily, the snow didn’t last long and everyone had a great
evening of socializing, learning and reminiscing. Our celebration continued Sunday, October 7th
with a family fun day at our South House.
Thank you to the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors for coming
over and holding a ribbon cutting to help us celebrate 30 years! We truly appreciate all that were
able to come and help us celebrate. If you’ve never been in one of our Houses, we would love to
give you a tour!

Fargo’s Two Ronald M
Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Red River Valley’s two houses provide a “home away from
home” for families and their seriously ill or injured children who travel far to receive treatment at Fargo
Moorhead area hospitals. The houses provide a setting in which families connect with other families
and children meet other children going through similar experience. During their visit, guests stay in
comfortable and lovingly decorated private rooms where they can get peaceful night’s rest, knowing
they are close to their child.
The houses are beautiful, cozy and warm facilities to provide the most comfort to guests. Each house
has six private guest bedrooms, a large fully stocked kitchen, laundry facility, playroom, deck and
playground area and other common areas as well as an office and separate living space for the resident
managers. Families have a safe place to sleep, relax, take a needed break from being at the medical
facility and share their experiences and anxieties with other families in similar situations.
The families are asked to pay $15 for each night of their stay if financially able; however no family is
turned away because of inability to pay.
The Ronald McDonald House operates 100% on donations (monetary or in-kind) from individuals,
church and civic organizations, local and area businesses, national corporations and others. It is
because of the generosity of others that we are able to provide a place of rest and comfort for families.

in 2012. Runners received perks
for running for a charity as they
raised money for RMHC-RRV. The
Ronald McDonald House had 12
runners raising over $3,400!
