Baritone Gianmarco Segato recently made his Opera by Request debut as Quinault in Adriana Lecouvreur and will return there this March as Le Bailli in Werther for performances in Toronto and Ottawa. Other recent Toronto appearances include an evening of Spanish vocal music with guitarist Michael Kolk at Allan Gardens Conservatory as well as a recital of French mélodies at the Heliconian Hall. He has sung with the choruses of Opera in Concert, Opera Hamilton and has been baritone section lead and soloist at Leaside United Church in Toronto since 2006. In 2011 he gave recitals in Tours, France with collaborative pianist Amanda Johnston as part of the Académie Francis Poulenc where he also studied with the great French baritone, François le Roux. Jennifer Yu, Piano Jennifer Yu is a doctoral Candidate in Musical Arts in piano performance at University of Toronto. Her principal teachers include Lynda Metelsky (piano) at Royal Conservatory of Toronto, Germaine Mounier (piano) at École Normale de Musique de Paris in France, Marietta Orlov (piano) at University of Toronto, and Midori Koga (piano pedagogy) and Cameron Stowe (collaborative piano) at University of Toronto. She is a widely praised recitalist of solo and collaborative piano in Austria, Canada, France, Italy, Portugal, Taiwan, and USA. Her pedagogic activities include masterclasses in Canada and Portugal. Jennifer is a member of Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association, co-owner of Suono Music Studio in Richmond Hill, and a faculty member of the Children's Piano Pedagogy Program at Faculty of Music, University of Toronto. ________________________________________________________________________ Hold the Date: Saturday, May 24, 2014: Women in Song Eclectic music (classical, operatic and popular) written by women and performed by some of Canada’s finest female singers: Monica Whicher, Natalie Paulin, Norine Burgess, Laura Pudwell and Allison Angelo (John Greer, acc.) Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014: World War I Commemorative Event A special commemorative evening with moving historical talks, dramatic readings, evocative period music and visual displays. Brian Stewart, one of Canada’s most respected foreign correspondents will be the featured speaker. Mr. Stewart retired from the CBC in 2009 and is now a Senior Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto.
