Toshiba America Foundation provides teachers in grades Kindergarten
through 5th grade with additional funds to support classroom projects.
The Foundation strongly encourages projects planned and led by individual
teachers or teams of teachers for their own classrooms.
Grant Guidelines:

Any K-5 teacher in a public school is eligible for a grant to support
science or math education up to $1,000 for project materials only.

Applications must be for project based learning.

After school and independent study projects are note eligible.

- Equipment (playgrounds, sports, band, etc.)
- Books (other than textbooks)
- Computer software (no hardware)
- Student supplies
- Local field trips
- Educational field trips
- Other needs are considered as well
Schools must participate in the Cap and Lid Program prior to submitting an

Target Field Trip Grant
Looking for a great way to inspire your students, but can’t find the funds you need to make it happen?
Check out the Target® Field Trip Grants program.
Target will award grants to K-12 schools nationwide of up to $700 each to help
fund field trips to great educational destinations. Students will have the opportunity to enhance their studies in fine arts, math, science and social studies.
Field trips must take place between January and the end of the school year.
Grant applications are accepted between 12:00 p.m. August 1st and
11:59 p.m. October 1st Central Standard Time.

Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Mini-Grants for Education
Mini-Grants for Education are designed to support K-12 teachers and schools in Freeport-McMoRan
communities.
Grants in the range of $100 to $500 will be awarded to support projects in the following eligible project
categories:
 Environment; Mining, mineral and natural resources
 Reading and literacy
 STEM-Science, Technology Engineering and Math
A school is eligible to receive up to four (4) mini-grants during each application period. Each applicant/
teacher/classroom may receive one mini-grant per school year.

Lowe’s Toolbox For Education Grant
Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation has helped more than 1,000 schools across the country per year
create reading gardens, build playgrounds and implement other improvement projects that help strengthen their
schools and their communities.

Captain Planet Foundation
The mission of the Captain Planet Foundation is to give the next generation of environmental stewards an
active understanding and love for the natural world in which they live. Grants are made for activities that
promote the foundation’s mission.
Grants from the Captain Planet Foundation are intended to:




Provide hands-on environmental stewardship opportunities for youth;
Serve as a catalyst to getting environment-based education in schools;
Have real environmental outcomes;
Inspire youth and communities to participate in community service through
environmental stewardship activities.
Captain Planet Foundation will accept small grant requests for amounts between $500 – $2,500. Preferential
consideration is given to requests who have secured at least 50% matching or in-kind funding for their projects.
Submission Deadlines for Applications
Please be sure to apply well in advance of the proposed starting date for your project. If your project is
seasonal, please take into account the schedule below. Applications must be submitted online.

Laura Bush Foundation For America’s Libraries
The mission of the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries is to support the education of our nation’s
children by providing books and reading materials to the school libraries and students that need them. The
foundation makes grants of up to $7,000 to update, extend and diversify the book and print collections of
America’s school libraries that receive them.
Schools that have previously received a grant from the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s libraries are
ineligible to apply.
Recipients will be identified and awards will be made in May 2017.
Maximum grant amount $7,000. Application opens Fall 2016.

in class and at home.”

Helpful Tips on Writing a Local Grant
Use a Positive Form
Stating things positively starts the reader on the right foot. Watch for the word not and see
if you can restate the idea more effectively.
