Super Spies in Year 3/4 Healthy Snacks Tomb Raiding in Year 5/6

14th January 2015
Welcome to the new school term and a Happy New Year to you all. We hope that you enjoyed a lovely
Christmas break. Thank you to all of you who took part in the Reading challenge. We have really enjoyed
looking at the photos of some of the ’extreme reading’ that the children have been up to! The spring
term Teacher led clubs will start next week (week beginning 19th January), you will be informed by the
end of this week which clubs your child will be taking part in.
Super Spies in Year 3/4
Tomb Raiding in Year 5/6
A secret spy kit has arrived in lower school along
with a curious letter. Who could it be from?
Howard Carter…eat your heart out! Year 5 and 6
are the new archaeologists in town! We have been
looking at different artefacts (which we believe are
from the ancient Egyptian time) to try and work out
what they are, and what they may have been used
for!
Currently, we are investigating the structure of a
spy story and what we will need to include in our
writing to make our own stories as gripping as
possible!
We have also designed some brilliant spy gadgets
so watch out mums and dads!
As archaeologists the children will be learning how
the Ancient Egyptians mummified their dead and
why this was so important to them. Once the
children learn about this they will then be looking
for any willing volunteers to test their own mummy
making skills on..!
The children are already looking forward to their
exciting trip to the British Museum later in the
term.
Breaking News!
We have just received some professional
photographs from the 2014 Ferneham Hall Arts
Festival. These are now on the website, so make
sure you take a look!
Healthy Snacks
We encourage children to eat a heathy snack during their morning playtime. This helps to
give them a boost of energy which keeps them going until lunchtime. Please remember
that crisps and chocolate should not be eaten during playtime. Fruit and vegetable sticks
are fantastic snacks. Other healthy snacks can be bought from the snack shop.

Northern Vs Whiteley
We would like to wish our football team the best of
luck for their first away match against Whiteley
Primary school.
The match will take place after school on
Thursday.
Any supporters are more than welcome!
Wet Weather Wellies!
We have had a lot of wet weather recently, and along
with it a lot of soggy school shoes! With the promise
of more wet weather on the way, you might like to
send your child to school in wellies or alternative
waterproof footwear, so that they can
then change into nice dry school shoes
once they arrive at school.
