story.
 The cause is why an
event happens and
the effect is what happens.

The setting is where
and when the story
takes place.

Theme is the “big
idea” that holds the
entire story together.
 Sequence refers to
the order in which the
events happen. In
nonfiction, it means
the steps in a process.

This week we will be reviewing all of the previously
taught skills.
 Subjects and Predicates
 Independent and Dependent Clauses
 Compound and Complex Sentences
 Common Nouns Proper
Nouns and Appositives
Math:
In this topic, your student
will develop proficiency with
adding and subtracting decimals. These skills will enable your student to solve
mathematical and realworld problems efficiently.
These skills will also help
your student estimate sums
and differences in order to
determine the reasonableness of solutions.
AR:
Please monitor your
child’s Accelerated
Reader reading. They
should be reading at
least 30 minutes at
home in these books
daily. If your child did
not have an A or B on
midterm, odds are they
are not reading the
required 30 minutes.
