Trailer Innovation Awards Tim Blakemore is the sole UK representative on the panel of judges for the pan-European Trailer Innovation award scheme. Trailer Innovation Awards started back in 2002, the brainchild of a top German magazine, KFZ-Anzeiger. This unique, biennial scheme now involves 11 leading road transport magazines from 10 European countries, including Commercial Vehicle Engineer in the UK. The key criterion of the judging panel is contribution to road freight transport efficiency. Innovations of all types and size are welcome, provided they apply to trailers, semi-trailers or bodywork. The VDA (Verband der Automobilindustrie), Germany’s motor industry association, has been an enthusiastic Trailer Innovation supporter from the start. The awards are now an integral part of the programme of events at the huge IAA Hannover commercial vehicles show, coming up next in September 2016. Truck Operating Costs: the full story The long-established annual UK truck operating cost analysis by the Commercial Vehicle Engineer team is widely regarded as the most detailed and accurate work of its kind anywhere. This compilation of five recent analyses, produced in association with Iveco, is in response to growing demand from truck operators and their suppliers for a single, comprehensive and reliable source of information. If you need dependable answers to questions on subjects such as the true current standing and running costs of a 460hp 6x2 tractor at 44 tonnes gcw, and how those costs have changed over five years, this is the best place to find them. In addition to highly-detailed and painstakinglyresearched cost tables for rigid trucks, tractive units and semi-trailers, from 2007 to 2011, the publication includes year-by-year analysis of all the factors influencing truck operating costs. And there is expert commentary on the most effective ways to control fuel costs. Call Denise on +44 (0) 1428 605605 to find out more.
