Directions (from Castle Bromwich to start of walk) Make your own way to the City Centre – Train from Marston Green at 6.32 or Lea Hall at 6.23 to New Street 94 Bus from Castle Bromwich Junior School at 6.05 (Claribels) or 6.13 (NX West Midlands) Senior Travel passes usable on both bus and train Walk description Come and explore 250 years of Birmingham, taking the quiet route. The walk will follow canals in an arc around the north side of the City, including a diversion into the Jewellery Quarter. Look out for where precious metals are verified, plastic was invented and where a king was held together, 2 universities and the oldest building of its kind in the world. After the walk there will be an opportunity to descend into the vaults for a drink. If you are travelling directly to the start of a walk and not meeting at Castle Bromwich, please let the walk leader know. WALK GRADING ADVICE Easy – Gentle walks over mostly level. Suitable for anyone who does not have a mobility problem or is seriously unfit. Sturdy shoes, trainers or walking boots recommended. Leisurely – Walks for reasonably fit people with at least a little country walking experience. Walking boots and warm waterproof clothing recommended. Moderate – Walks for people with country walking experience. May include some steep paths and be at a brisk pace. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing are essential.
