Deserts 3P
4 major deserts we found in an atlas
are:
1) The Antarctic Desert in Antarctica
2) The Arctic desert in Alaska,
Canada, Greenland, Iceland,
Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia
3) The Sahara Desert in Africa
and
4) Arabian Desert in the Arabian
Peninsula
5/6H Deciduous Forests
-Deciduous means when the forest changes according to
seasons.
-Deciduous forests have 4 seasons.
-Deciduous forests are very sensitive to climate change, meaning that they
change to suit the season e.g. they lose their leaves in autumn after they change
colour.
- There are deciduous trees that can survive outside of the forest.
Oceans by KHS
● Oceans cover a big space on our Earth.
● Oceans are home to so many different animals and plants like: turtles, fish, dolphins, seals,
jellyfish, coral and seaweed.
● We can do many things in the ocean like fish, swim, snorkel, surf and go on a boat.
● Only a small space of our ocean is looked after (protected).
We can help our oceans by:
● Not littering our plastic so animals don’t get caught or sick.
● Not fishing too much.
● Not taking things away from the beach or jumping on sand dunes.
Deciduous Forests
5/6Z
Deciduous forests are temperate forests that are found in the eastern half of North
America, the middle of Europe, New Zealand and also South-Eastern Australia.
Deciduous forests change according to the seasons.
The leaves on the trees change colours before they fall off. These leaves are good
for the soil.
Deciduous trees provide shelter, food and also water for many different animals.
Many animals that live in deciduous forests have lost their homes as the trees have
been removed to build towns and for farming.
People can look after these forests by not cutting down the trees that are necessary
for the animals that live there. They can also stop hunting the animals and not litter as
this can harm the animals.
Rainforests
By 2B
What is a rainforest?A rainforest is a forest that has tall trees. They are located near the equator where there is warm weather
and lots of rain.
How are Rainforests being harmed?People are chopping down trees to make furniture and to clear the land for farming and
palm oil plantations. This is a catastrophe and is harming our beautiful earth. It affects humans, animals and plants.
How can we help protect rainforests?
- Recycle paper and tell others to, so that fewer trees need to be cut.
- Make sure that flowers and food you buy are from sustainable sources.
1E - Rainforests
A rainforest is a natural environment.
Rainforests are beautiful places.
Rainforests are home to more than half of the world’s
animals.
There are four layers of a rainforest – Forest floor,
Understory layer, Canopy layer, Emergent layer.
We can help care for our rainforests by
not cutting down trees and protecting the
animals that live in the rainforests.
We like to go WASTE FREE!
Look at the 2 lunches. Which is a waste free lunch?

Deserts by 3/4J
oDeserts are natural environments in which they cover approximately one
third of the Earth’s surface.
oCreating sand fences helps prevent movement of the sand
oPlanting Saplings
oSupply Sufficient Water
oTaking Good Care of the Planted Trees
oMoving Towards Greening Activities Managed by the Local People
oTaking care of the animals there.
oProviding more dwellers in which they rely on groundwater, stored
in aquifers below the surface.
oFind new ways to rotate crops to protect the fragile soil.
oPlant sand-fixing bushes and trees.
oDig artificial grooves in the ground to retain rainfall and trap
windblown seeds.
Rainforests by 1/2P
The tropical rainforest biome is an ecosystem
that covers about 7% of the Earth’s surface.
The tropical rainforest has hundreds of different types of trees living
there.
rainforests are one of the oldest biomes on Earth and therefore have a
great variety of animals living there..
Rainforests are extremely important because the water they produce is
evaporated and then used as rain in other areas.
How to protect the Rainforest
● Teach others about the importance of the environment and how they can help
save rainforests.
● Restore damaged ecosystems by planting trees on land where forests have
been cut down.
● Encourage people to live in a way that doesn't hurt the environment.
Rainforests by 1O
Tropical rainforests are forests with tall trees, warm climates, and lots of rain. In
some rainforests it rains more than one inch nearly every day of the year!
Although rainforests cover less than 2 percent of Earth’s surface, they house more
than 50 percent of the plants and animals on Earth.
Rainforests have lots of plants and animals because they are located in tropical
regions, they receive a lot of sunlight. The sunlight is converted to energy by plants
through the process of photosynthesis. Since there is a lot of sunlight, there is a lot
of energy in the rainforest. This energy is stored in plant vegetation, which is eaten
by animals. The abundance of energy supports an abundance of plant and animal
species.
How to care for our rain forests: Do not destroy the animals habitat by not cutting
down trees and not hunting animals.
The Dry,Unique Deserts -4L
We can save the Deserts by saving lots and lots of water for the plants & Cactus’s.
We can support the environment & the wildlife by the following information:
● Picking up litter-trash can injure/kill different animals.
● Switching from anti-bug sprays to natural solutions
● Helping sick/injured wildlife by calling the different experts
● ABSOLUTELY NEVER KEEP WILD ANIMALS THAT ARE TRAINED OR NOT AS
HOUSE PETS
● GET INVOLVED!!!!!! BY:studying wildlife & educating others & teaching them about
Rainforest - 2K
What is a Rainforest?
Rainforests are very dense, warm and wet forests.
Why is it called a Rainforest?
The reason it is called a ‘Rainforest’ is because of the high amount of rainfall
it gets throughout the year.
Why are Rainforests important to us?
They are very important to us because the plants of the rainforest generate
much of the Earth’s oxygen. There are many plants and animals that can only
survive in the rainforest environment. Rainforest also provides us with many
herbs that can be used for making different types of medicines, spices,
chocolates and many more things.
Rainforests are the forests that receive high
amount of rainfall.
A rainforest is a water forest with wild and
natural animals.
80% of the flowers in the Australian rainforests
are not found anywhere else in the world.
1 out of 4 ingredients in our medicine is from
rainforest plants.
The Amazon rainforest is the largest tropical
rainforest in the world, covering over five and a
half million square kilometres.
Rainforests only cover around 2% of the total
surface area of the earth but about 50% of the
plant of the animals on earth live there.
