INFERENCE
Goal: I can make inferences based on text evidence
and my schema as I read.
Instructions:
1.  Scan a QR code below. It will take you to a Padlet.
2.  Double tap to type your response. In your response, you
need to 1. type your name and then 2. answer the question.
3.  Repeat for each of the QR codes. You might need to push the
blue “Back” arrow in the top left-hand corner of your QR
reader to get back to your QR scanner.

Goal: I can sequence the important events (tell the
order that they happen) in a story.
Instructions:
1.  Read through the passage and think about the 6 MOST
important events. You might want to number them ON your
passage.
2.  Open up your Popplet app.
3.  Insert a popple by pushing the blue “gear” button. Type
the first event.
4.  Insert more popples to create a flow chart that shows

the sequence of events in the story.
5.  Click “Export” and “Save JPEG.” Now it’s in your Photos.

Goal: I can summarize a fiction piece and include the
problem, rising action, climax, and solution.
Instructions:
1.  Read through the passage and think about the problem
(what is wrong for the character), the rising action (how
he tries to solve the problem), the climax (what happens
so you think their problem might be solved), and the
solution (how the problem is solved.)
2.  Open Kidblog.
3.  Click “New Post.”
4.  Title your post “Summary- Kwan’s Secret Talent.” Type
your summary (following the story mountain that you
thought about earlier) in your post.

vocabulary
Goal: I can use context clues to determine word
meanings in stories that I read. I can also use
antonyms and synonyms to describe how different
words are related.
Instructions:

Read through the passage and locate the following words
a.  Hesitant (paragraph 7)
b.  Professional (paragraph 21)
Open the Book Creator app
In the upper right corner, click ‘New Book” then “Landscape”
Create a cover page. Include the title of the passage and your name.
On the next page, enter the 1st vocabulary word. Every new page will have a
different vocabulary word on it.
Every page must have:
1.  The vocabulary word
2.  Definition of the word
3.  The vocabulary word used in a sentence (not from the passage- you
can type it or record a video!)
4.  Illustration
5.  Synonym and/or Antonym of the word

1.  Click the Sharrow
2.  Click “Open in Edmodo”
3.  Find the turn in post titled: “Vocabulary Book CreatorKwan’s Secret Talent”
4.  Click “Turn In”
1.  If the “Import File” option does not pop up, you
NEED TO JELLYFISH OUT OF EDMODO, then reopen Book Creator.
2.  Click the Sharrow button again
3.  Click “Open in Edmodo”

Goal: I can describe how characters change and
WHY they change. I can describe their relationships
with other characters.
Instructions:
1.  Read through the passage and think about how your character
changed from the beginning to the end. Why did they change?
2.  Open up your Tellagami app.
3.  Pretend that you are the main character in the story. Record your
voice and describe
1.  What you were like at the beginning
2.  What you were like at the end
3.  Why you changed
4.  Tap the green “Share” button in the bottom left-hand corner. Click
“Save.” Now it’s in your Photos as a video.
