Anna Maria Island Privateers, Inc. Scholarship
Purpose: To provide scholarships to deserving area youth that have need of financial
assistance, are ac,ve in suppor,ng the community in which they live and show an eagerness to
achieve through knowledge by intending to pursue post-high school course of study at either
college/university or other post-secondary educa,onal ins,tu,on.

Criteria:
♦ Applicant must be a resident of Manatee County.
♦ Applicant must be a gradua,ng high school senior or enrolled in an accredited postsecondary ins,tu,on in the year of the scholarship award.
♦ Applicant must demonstrate posi,ve –impact involvement—in the complete sense—
consistent with capacity and circumstances and/or significant improvement/success in
scholarship and community involvement, determined through le>ers of recommenda,on.
Applica,on Process:
1. Complete the applicaon form (if handwri>en, please print legibly)
2. Three le$ers of recommendaon from choice of high school teachers, administrators,
counselors, employers, or individual with significant knowledge of applicant’s experience and
involvement.
3. An official and recent high school and/or college/university transcript with cumula,ve grade
point average and a class standing/rank.
4. Personal Essay. In your essay, please write on the following topic: Describe how a role
model has helped influence you to make a change in your life that will have a posi,ve impact
on others.
5. Statement of Need. Please list reasons why scholarship funds are needed for the
furtherance of your educa,on.
6. Renewing scholarship recipients need only provide a current transcript showing a 3.0 GPA is
being maintained along with the applica,on form for automa,c renewal.

Test Security Enhancements: Students are required to provide their gender and a photo when registering for both the
SAT and ACT. This information will be included on admissions tickets, test center rosters and high school reports.
Students will upload (via the ACT and College Board website, mobile device, or mail) a recognizable head-and-shoulders
photo of themselves when registering for these tests. Students must provide their high school code (100-146) when
registering. Students must also bring their admissions ticket and acceptable photo ID on test day.

SCF Foundation Scholarships
The SCF Foundation has awarded over 900 scholarships to students. The
scholarships are available between January 1-March 20, 2017. Please visit their
website at www.scf.edu/scholarships before March 20 to find out more
information and to apply for scholarships. It’s free to apply for a scholarship, and
it’s free money! Students must have completed an application to SCF

Mote Marine High School Internship
Are you excited about marine biology and passionate about ocean conservation?
BECOME A MOTE INTERN!
Mote’s High School Internship Program is both a learning and work experience.
Throughout the school year (September—May), interns will attend after-school workshops,
optional programs, field trips and Saturday volunteer shifts. To meet the requirements,
students should expect to spend a minimum of 8 hours at Mote each month. Some of the
benefits of participating in this program include the following:

Assist with marine research, animal care, and the delivery of Mote’s education
programs.
♦
Enjoy special classes, like SCUBA and kayaking, and field trips to other Florida
aquariums and research centers.
♦
Earn Bright Futures Scholarship hours and a college recommendation letter.

Kallins, Little & Delgado Scholarship
The Kallins, Little & Delgado Law Firm has been helping the young people of this community by
awarding annual college scholarships to high school seniors. Since 2006, scholarships have been
awarded to 58 high school seniors totaling $82,000. A total of ten scholarships (one $3,000
scholarship, three $2,000 scholarships, and six $1,000 scholarships) will be awarded to seniors in
Manatee County. The Scholarships will be awarded in May 2017 at their awards banquet.

Manatee County Branch - American Association of
University Women (AAUW) Scholarship
The Manatee County Branch AAUW Scholarship Foundation annually awards up to 15 or more scholarships
ranging in value from $500 to $2,000 for an academic year. These scholarships are awarded to students who
are seeking a baccalaureate degree, an associate degree or a technical degree/certification.
Requirements
♦
The applicant must be a female and have Manatee County as her primary residence for at least two years
prior to the date of application.
♦
The applicant must possess outstanding character and citizenship, and demonstrate a need for financial
assistance.
♦
An applicant who is currently completing high school and planning to seek a Baccalaureate or Associate
degree must have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
♦
An applicant who is currently enrolled in an institution of higher education must have at least a 3.0 GPA
on a 4.0 scale in her major field of study and a 2.5 overall GPA on a 4.0 scale for all work completed. The
applicant must demonstrate adequate preparation and aptitude for her chosen field of study.
♦
An applicant who plans to or is enrolled in a Technical/Certification Program must show evidence of
above average academic performance (at least a 3.0) in past academic endeavors. She must demonstrate
adequate preparation and aptitude for her chosen field of study.
♦
A woman who is entering an academic endeavor due to a life’s transition must have a high school diploma,
having graduated from high school at least three years previously, and is striving to be economically
independent through higher education. She must demonstrate adequate aptitude for her chosen field of
study.

Realtor Association of Sarasota & Manatee Scholarship
Each year, the Realtor Association of Sarasota and Manatee (RASM) Scholarship Committee will award six
scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each. The scholarship supports tuition, textbooks and other
course-related fees. The following criteria must be established in awarding this scholarship:
• You must have a school official complete the required scholastic information and include 2 letters of
reference.
• Submit a completed application (incomplete application packages will not be considered by the review
committee).
• Write a 200-300 word essay introducing yourself, identifying your mentors, sharing your goals and
expectations and describe why you should receive a scholarship.
Applications due before 5 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017.

Manatee County Gator Club Scholarship
This year's Manatee County Gator Club scholarship deadline is March 20. All eligible applicants are welcome to
apply, based upon the minimum eligibility requirements listed below:
•
You must be a graduating senior from a high school located in Manatee County.
•
You must apply for admission to, and attend, the University of Florida for the fall and spring semesters within
the academic year the scholarship is awarded.
•
You must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average in high school and a minimum SAT score of
1000. You must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average at the University of Florida for the fall and
spring semesters. You will be required to submit to the Manatee County Gator Club, at the end of your fall
semester, a copy of your transcript showing the courses taken, grades, grade point average, and the courses
which you are registered for in the spring semester.
•
If requested, you must make yourself available for an interview with the Manatee County Gator Club
scholarship committee.
•
The selection criteria for awarding the scholarships will be based on academic achievement, financial need,
and extra-curricular activities participated in during your high school years.
•

Weekday Breakfast Everyday Monday thru Friday we serve a continental breakfast to those in need.
We also provide an open sanctuary for men and women to start their day with a
time of prayer and worship.
Open Warehouse At the warehouse making bagged lunches, hygiene items, sorting clothing
donations, and all the behind the scenes work.
Reach Walk Every Wednesday we meet on the Riverwalk and walk from the Public Library to
the Skate Park and back handing out bagged lunches, ice cold drinks, and sharing
unexpected and unconditional love with more than 100 people that we meet on the
walk.
Daily Bread We partner with “Our Daily Bread” to serve the daily meal on the 2nd & 4th
Thursday of every month. We serve 250 men, women, and children what is for
some is their only meal.
Community Breakfast Every Saturday and Sunday we serve a hot breakfast to 200 men, women, and
children. We fill their most basic needs including clothing, shoes, and hygiene
items. We share Christ’s message of hope through our actions of unconditional
love.
Ballard Park Adopt A Block Every Saturday we reach out to the community of Ballard Park and more than 150
of the neighbors. Serving a hot breakfast and providing needed clothing, shoes,
and household items. We share love with the children and support the local
families.
Dream Center Closet We provide clothing, shoes, blankets, bedding, and towels to those in need in our
community. We provide families with baby items, school uniforms, household items,
and furniture, We help move homeless individuals, families, and veterans off the
streets by furnishing newly obtained permanent housing.

Our team of hair stylists and barbers provide free haircuts and styling to the

Student Athletes Must Register with NCAA and NAIA
Students looking to par,cipate in a Division I, II, or III collegiate sport should register with the
NCAA Eligibility Center their sophomore year of high school. Students must request that their
ACT scores be forwarded directly to the center by entering code "9999" as a repor,ng
selec,on when registering for the test.
Students looking to play for an NAIA school must register at www.playnaia.org.

Florida Bright Futures Scholarship
ALL Seniors need to complete the Flor ida Financial Aid Application if they ar e planning
to be a recipient of the Florida Bright Futures Program. Students must visit
www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org and on the left hand side of the page click on State Grants,
Scholarships & Applications. Then again on the left hand side of the page there will be a section
titled "Want Bright Futures?"
In this section, students are to click on the Florida Financial Aid Application and begin the
process of completing this form. This form authorizes BCS to send transcripts to the Florida
Department of Education for the purpose of receiving funds through the Florida Bright Futures
Scholarship Program.
This form must be completed no later than May 26, 2017 or students will no longer be eligible
to receive this funding.
ManateeRiverGardenClubScholarship
The Manatee River Garden Club is offering a $500 scholarship to a graduating high school student
who plans to further their studies in gardening, agriculture, horticulture, landscape design or

Golden Herald Award Nominees
Bradenton Christian School is happy to report we have a total of 6 wonderful students
representing Bradenton Christian School at the Golden Herald Award Ceremony this year. We
will be holding mock interviews on Friday, March 3 and their actual interview at the Bradenton
Herald Offices will be held on Saturday, March 4. The Golden Herald Awards Ceremony will be

Anna Maria Island Historical Society Scholarship
The Anna Maria Island Historical Society will select one high school senior to receive a
$2,000 scholarship for the 2016/17 school year.
Scholarship requirements:
• You must be a resident of Anna Maria, Bradenton Beach or Holmes Beach.
• You must be a 2017 graduate of a Manatee County High School.
• You must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (weighted) for a
four-year college or a 2.5 (weighted) for a community college.
• Your major can be in any field at an accredited two-year or four-year college,
and you must be a full-time student taking 12 or more credit hours.
Application must include:
• A copy of your high school transcript;
• A copy of your SAT or ACT scores;
• Two references (one from a teacher);
• A one-to-two-page typed essay on your extra curricular activities, volunteer
service and future aspirations in your field.
