The Fairy Princess Sparkly Party Kit
A Note for Fairy Godmothers and Godfathers!
To host a Very Fairy Princess party you need the same things that all very fairy princesses
need: enthusiasm, creativity, fun, and a whole lot of sparkle! In this party kit you’ll find
icebreaker games and activity sheets to use at your event—whether at a bookstore, library,
school, or your own home. Looking for more help and ideas? Try these:
Sparkly Invitations
Use the template below to send out or post invitations to young princes and princesses!
Decorating Tips
Make the party room into a castle by hanging paper herald banners on the walls, setting
a fancy banquet or tea party table, or adorning surfaces with stars, snowflakes, or sparkles.
In this kit you’ll find an activity for kids to create their own crowns, and you can also
consider having fairy wings for children to wear. And as every fairy princess knows,
you can never have too much glitter!
Favor and Prize Ideas
Give princes and princesses party favors and prizes fit for a king or a queen! Consider
such items as bags of fairy dust confetti or wands, which can be made in advance or as a
party activity from construction paper, pencils or pipe cleaners, and ribbon. If throwing a
party timed for Valentine’s Day, Halloween, or wintertime, think about seasonal themed
favors and prizes. When all else fails, go for the sparkle, with such items as sparkly crayons,
stickers, bracelets, or candy.
You are cordially invited to share your SPARKLE at
The RIGHT kind of sparkle is all it takes to make a PERFECT day!

Finding Your Sparkle
Everyone has a unique inner sparkle, and these games
are designed to help children discover their own.
What Makes You Sparkle?
Anyone can be a fairy princess…you just have to let your SPARKLE out! Ask children,
“What makes YOU sparkle?” and have them answer by saying, “I sparkle when…” You can
also turn this game around and have kids pay compliments to one another by saying,
“YOU sparkle when…”
Favorite Songs
One of Gerry’s favorite classes is music—she loves to sing! Sitting in a circle, have each
child share his or her favorite song with the group. For the especially brave: Have them
sing a few lines of that song!
Holiday Greetings
Gerry loves holidays! One of her favorites is Valentine’s Day—what’s your favorite?
Depending on which upcoming holiday you are getting ready to celebrate, have kids design
greeting cards for their friends and family in advance. (Fairy princesses are extremely generous!)
Dancing Queens
One of Gerry’s very favorite things to do is dance. Put on some music and have everyone
show off their sparkle by dancing along!
Make a Prince or Princess
Make Up a Fairy Tale
Now try this fairy tale version of the drawing activity above! Write the first sentence of a
fairy tale on a large piece of paper. Fold the paper down so that only the last word or phrase
can be seen, and pass the paper around in a circle. Everyone gets a chance to add a line or
two, folding the same way each time, resulting in a group fairy tale. (Younger kids can dictate
their sentences to a grown up scribe!)

Start with a long piece of paper. Draw a crown at the top and then fold over the paper to
hide everything but a tiny bit of your drawing at the bottom. Have the first child continue
the lines to draw the top of the head, the eyes, and the beginning of the hair, and then fold
the paper the same way. The next child draws the nose and mouth, etc. Continue with the
neck, shoulders, torso, and arms—all the way down to feet! Unfold everything to see the
prince or princess you’ve created together!

How Much of a Princess or Prince are YOU?
Prior to the party, prepare a list of royalty-based commands, similar to the ones below.
Have children stand up along a starting line and give them prompts with associated movements,
such as:
− If you have ever worn a crown, take a step forward.
− If you have ever swallowed your gum, take a step back.
− If you’ve ever kissed (or even touched!) a frog, take two hops forward.
− If you have ever done a good deed, take a step forward.
− If you like to dance, jump to your right.
− If you like to sing, jump to your left.
− If you have ever rescued an animal or a bug, take a leap forward.
− If you have ever eaten something you wished you hadn’t, take one jump backward.
− If you have ever done something scary but brave, take three hops forward.
− If you have ever found something unusual or exciting, jump forward.
− If you’ve ever spilled something, take a step back.
− If you’ve ever been a flower girl or a ring bearer, take a dainty step forward.
− If you’ve ever been in a school play, take a bow.
− If you’re wearing sneakers or sparkly shoes, jump forward.
− If you play a musical instrument, wave your arms in the air.
− If you have ever helped someone without being asked, take two skips forward.
The first person who reaches the finish line wins—but everyone gets a royal prize!
Every party needs a grand finale! Complete your party by reading
aloud from one of The Very Fairy Princess books, allowing kids to
settle down and relax. Make the reading experience interactive by
asking questions about the story and art.

Pin the Tiara on the Princess
Cut out the tiara below and place double-sided tape on the reverse side.
Then tape a picture of a real-life princess (such as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge
or Princess Ameera Al-Taweel!) or a very fairy princess in your own life to the wall.
Blindfold young princes and princesses with a sparkly scarf, spin them around,
and then have them try to pin the tiara atop the princess’s head!
