Course Description The Eclectic Approach to TMD is a modern orthopedic manual therapy course. The Eclectic
Approach was founded by Dr. Erson Religioso III, DPT, MS, MTC, CertMDT, CFC, CSCS,
FMT, FMS, FAAOMPT. Participants will learn relevant TMJ and cervical anatomy and
biomechanics, SFMA and MDT based patient classification, and manual therapy techniques. The
techniques include IASTM with The EDGE Tool, soft tissue release of the Upper Quarter, and
joint mobilizations of the upper cervical spine and TMJ. Emphasis is placed on patient education
and how to make the patient responsible for their own successful outcomes. Chapter 1: Introduction
•
The online learners will learn three techniques for approaching TMD, the Mechanical
Diagnoses and Therapy, Selective Functional Movement Assessment and the pain
Science Education techniques.
•
The learners will be able to describe three ways Mariano Rocabado’s influenced TMD
and Physical Therapy.
Chapter 2: What is TMD? •
The online learners will be able to identify the common signs and symptoms of TMD.
•
The learners will be able to differentiate between S curve and C curve and explain their
relevance.
•
Learners will also learn the typical demographics of the TMD patient and how to market
and who to market to for this patient population.
Chapter 3: Quick Anatomy •
The online learners will identify the relevant anatomy of the TMJ.
•
Learners will identify and describe disc and joint biomechanics, normal and
dysfunctional movement of the TMJ, and the differentiation between C and S Curves.
Chapter 4: Craniovertebral Relationship •
The online learners will review Rocabado’s proven craniomandibular relationship.
•
Learners will be able to provide relevant patient education.
•
The learners will also understand the upper and lower cervical biomechanics.
