Dear Family,
I hope you have all had a fantastic Easter break! I hope that you all had a restful time together and
that the children are ready to learn. .

your child’s curriculum for the Summer term.

Homework
Homework will be given out every Wednesday
Homework will normally consist of:
 Spellings which the children should learn for the following week. Please help to discuss the
meaning of the spelling words with your children.
 Literacy which will be based on spelling, punctuation and grammar or on our current unit of
learning.
 Numeracy which will be linked to the current learning in the classroom.
 Tables which children should practise for a table quiz on Wednesday.
 Talk topic homework which should be completed in preparation for Big Writing and brought
into school every Thursday. Notes can consist of spider diagrams, brain storms, key words,
pictures and notes.
All homework should be completed and handed in by Wednesday each week. New homework will
be set each Wednesday, to be completed for the following week. If children need help with their
homework or are unsure they should come to see me before the day homework is due in so that
they can complete it in time.
Spellings & tables will be tested every Wednesday.
Big Writing will take place every Thursday.
Please note that P.E. lessons will take place on a Monday afternoon.
It is very important that children are fully equipped for their P.E. lessons, please ensure
your child has their full P.E. kit in school at these times. Children need plimsolls or trainers
to wear, they will not be allowed to wear their school shoes.
Reading
Please try to listen to your child read for around ten minutes a night and discuss what they have
read to you. The children will change their own books once they have finished, with support from an
adult if necessary.
Classroom arrangements
Miss Stables will teach the children on a Monday afternoon during my PPA time as well as a
Friday morning. Mrs. McCorry will be teaching the children on Friday afternoon, supported by
Mrs. Mistry.
I look forward to a busy, exciting Summer term full of learning and new experiences!
If you need any further information or assistance with regards to your child’s learning, please feel
free to approach me.
Yours sincerely
