Blooming Bryony Designs
Inspired by nature
Key Facts
Blooming Bryony Designs are original works of art created by artist
Bryony Benge-Abbott that celebrate the wonderful shapes and colours
found in the natural world and describe memories or impressions of
environments around us.
SureColor range of printers make
it easy for artists and designers to
transform their designs into
products
Bryony’s inspiration comes from around the world. Her Trinidadian and
British dual heritage, alongside key artists and movements such as
William Morris and the Arts & Crafts movement, Henri Matisse and the
Fauvists, and contemporary artists such as Beatriz Milhazes and Chris
Ofili, have naturally shaped her work.

approx 58m2/hr - new postplaten heater and optional Print
Drying System offers faster
drying time
Since graduating in Fine Art from Bath Spa University, Bryony has
developed her work further by creating home accessories and
furnishings using elements from her oil paintings. It was while focussing
on this area that she was introduced to Epson and was given the
opportunity to experiment with its SureColor technology.

with Epson’s design software
making it perfect for individual
creativity
“Epson SureColor technology has given me the freedom to explore new
ways to produce a variety of ‘Blooming Bryony’ décor products that I
would never have thought possible before,” says Bryony. “My designs
are inspired by nature and incorporate rich colours with delicate motifs
and it’s very important they transfer as close to my original artwork as
possible onto textiles for curtains, cushions and upholstery.”
From canvas to floors, walls, furnishings and more
Working with Epson-equipped PSPs using the SureColor SC-F7100 dye
sublimation printer, Bryony is able to reproduce her vibrant designs
consistently and at high quality onto her wallcoverings and furnishing
fabrics. Her range of bespoke homeware includes lampshades, cushion
covers and seat covers.
Quick, economical and reliable, the 64-inch roll-to-roll SureColor digital
printer is ideal for small to medium businesses. Productivity is delivered
thanks to output of up to approximately 58m2/hr, or typically 30m2/hour
in two-pass production mode, and its new post-platen heater and
optional Print Drying System, offers faster drying time.

“Epson has developed printers
that give small design
businesses like mine the power
to take our designs in many new

The ability to print small batches of a particular design means that
Bryony can produce exactly what she needs, when she needs it and
print to order very easily. She can test her designs and react to changing
market trends, without the danger of holding unwanted stock.
The Epson-Blooming Bryony collaboration
Working with Epson has encouraged Bryony to think more broadly about
what digital print can offer and the benefits to her as a designer.
To demonstrate how easy it is for artists and designers to transform their
designs into products, Epson and Bryony collaborated to produce a
range of beautiful and contemporary soft furnishings using the innovative
range of SureColor printers. The results were used throughout the Epson
stand at Heimtextil in Frankfurt – on the walls, curtains, table tops, chairs
and cushions. Plus every day during the show, Bryony demonstrated
printing her designs onto cotton cushion covers and tote bags using the
Epson SureColor SC-F2000 direct-to-fabric table-top printer.
Bryony Benge-Abbott turns her
artwork into cushion covers in
minutes using Epson SureColor SCF2000 printer
Combining high performance, low maintenance and running costs, the
SC-F2000 printer enables small to medium businesses to offer a new
textile design and print service. Equipped with Epson’s design software
the printer offers designers the opportunity to unleash their creativity to
produce a range of items including, t shirts, caps, bags and cushion
covers and more, up to 25mm thick.
Featuring Epson’s durable TFP printhead the SC-F2000’s production is
quick without sacrificing print quality. Used in conjunction with Epson’s
UltraChrome DG Ink the printer offers crisp colour reproduction and
smooth gradation. The printed area on the fabric is soft to the touch,
washes well and is scratch resistant.
“I used to think digital print technology was only for large organisations,”
says Bryony. “Epson has developed printers that give small businesses
like mine the power to take my designs in many new creative directions.
There really seems to be no limits.”
