• Review current data warehouse/data mart landscape (BW, non-SAP EDW’s); then
outline opportunities for data consolidation and data federation; Planned analytics
use cases.
• Detail BW-on-HANA conversion options and associated pros/cons and consider-
ations, including specific lessons learned for leveraging combined BW 7.4 upgrade
and OS/DB migration using SUM and DMO.
• Detail Basis-level OS/DB migration activities for the migration options, including the
sizing of HANA storage (memory, SSD, and Sybase IQ NLS).
• Detail post-migration application configuration changes to your reference
architecture and how your BW design changes with SAP HANA (LSA++ best practices).
• Facilitate decision towards the best migration path for your organization, including
cross-organization dependencies, project plan, governance processes, and costs.
• Layer migration project into overall BI roadmap and staffing plan including
post-migration optimization and specialized data mart opportunities that fall outside
core technical database conversion project.

2) BW Landscape Preparation Execution—Up to 2 weeks per instance
After completing this module, you will understand the Application-level and Basis-level
preparation tasks required to support a successful migration to BW 7.3 or BW 7.4
running on HANA database. Our approach for this module includes:
• Review of Method360 list of prerequisites, system checks, clean-up activities, and
application release/patch levels – this Method360 accelerator includes items like
Unicode, Authorizations, BEx Query Designer and Analyzer migrations, Data Flows,
PSA and Change Log clean-up, Infocube compression, system logs, statistical
tables, and DB stats.
• Construct a formal project plan for pre-migration preparation and database clean-up
including activities per role, dependencies and overall expected level of effort.
• Complete BW application-level and Basis-level preparation steps for each in-scope
instance.
3) BW-on-HANA Database Migration—Up to 2 weeks per instance
After completing the module, you will understand and execute the Basis-level options
and detailed steps required to perform a successful software upgrade and/or OS-DB
migration to SAP HANA in support of your BW landscape. Our approach for this
module includes:
• Review of BW application version upgrade and OS-DB migration options (I.e. new
install, SUM/DMO, PCA, etc) and confirm alignment on the best option for your
environment. Method360 is one of very few SAP consulting organizations with
proven experience with the combined SAP Upgrade Manager (SUM) and Database
Migration Option (DMO).
• Conduct SAP HANA administration pre-migration workshop to confirm all understood
prior to conducting the migration (primary focus on BW-HANA administration); Includes activities for general administration of OS and Database that covers
patching, housekeeping, table maintenance, system back-ups, HA/DR
considerations, and security.
• Construct a formal project plan for OS/BD migration including activities per role,
dependencies and overall expected level of effort.

4) BW-on-HANA Post Migration Optimization—Up to 4 weeks per instance
After completing the module, you will understand and be able to execute ongoing BW
application level architecture changes available with HANA as the underlying database
for SAP BW. Our approach for this module includes:
• Review of BW-on-HANA application configuration changes and optional updates to
your BW reference architecture (LSA++ design best practices). This includes the
use cases for new BW application components like Composite Providers, Open
ODS, Smart Data Access (Data Federation in BW vs. attempting to represent inside
the BusinessObjects BI suite).
• Review of implementation options and tactical optimization efforts required to further
