miles from junction 10 on the M3, stands the 18th century former rectory Old Alresford Place.
This historic house, with 16th century origins, mixes period charm with a recently renovated
interior in 3 acres of beautiful gardens. The elegant, yet relaxed atmosphere is the ideal venue
for a variety of receptions, functions, meetings and training days.

with audio visual equipment and wireless internet access, to accommodate a wide variety of
groups.
Our recently refurbished residential
facilities are also available for hire. All

ROOM AND VENUE DETAILS
The Sumner Room
Named after Mary Sumner, founder of the Mothers’ Union, who lived at Old Alresford Place for
many years, this spacious and elegant south-facing room is ideal for boardroom style meetings of
up to 36 people, theatre style conferences for 50 delegates, or standing receptions for up to 65.
The room has a fully integrated projection system, including digital radio, DVD player and
surround sound speakers.
Bar
Located at the back of the Sumner Room is our fully licensed bar. Offering a range of wines,
beers, spirits and soft drinks, this space is ideal for guests to relax in between sessions.
Dining Room
With French windows directly on to the terrace and garden, our dining room can accommodate
60 people for a seated meal or many more for a more informal buffet. For larger parties we can
extend the dining room with a marquee onto the adjacent terrace to increase the seating
capacity to 100.
Courtyard Room
This large conservatory room, surrounded with views of the beautiful garden, is perfect for
meetings, receptions, or break-out activities and can seat 40 people classroom style.
Chapel Room
This peaceful space can be used for smaller meetings or break out groups of up to 10 people. A
central arcade divides the room creating two distinct areas for a group to utilise as they wish. In
keeping with the strong Christian heritage of the building and its former use as a Rectory, the
back part of the room is set up as a Chapel and space for quiet reflection.
Interview Room
For anyone requiring a confidential meeting space, the Interview Room is an ideal option. The
room is available to hire by the day as a fully serviced office, including full internet, telephone
and IT services with printing and photocopying facilities available through reception.
Grounds
Surrounding the building on all sides are the 3 acres of grounds. Guests are welcome to make
full use of these and wander freely through the peaceful surroundings.
Delegates can pause for morning tea or coffee on the terrace; wander through the small copse
at the edge of the grounds; or simply relax and watch the wildlife.
Bedrooms
Following a major programme of refurbishment in 2007, Old Alresford Place offers 15 en suite
bedrooms for delegates and guests. All rooms have functional furnishings with tea and coffee
making facilities, desk, free internet access and telephone, and a flat screen digital TV with all
Freeview channels.
TRAVEL INSTRUCTIONS
BY TRAIN:
Main line from London Waterloo to Alton or Winchester.
BY TAXI:
From Winchester or Alton outside station.
BY BUS:
There are regular services from Alton and Winchester stations for latest times check

BY CAR:
M3 to Junction 9 (if travelling from the north), or junction 10 (if travelling from the south). Take
the A31 towards Alton, then the B3047 signposted New Alresford. In the town centre you will
need to turn left onto the B3046 to Old Alresford. On reaching Old Alresford, the Parish
Church is on the right with an immediate right-hand turn into our drive. There is a brown
tourist sign pointing to Old Alresford Place. Please note that most sat-navs will take you
about half a mile from us.
