If you had this pot in your house, what
would you put in it?
Around 700 years ago someone in
Cambodia stored lime powder in this
pot. They needed this for betel chewing
which is a bit like chewing tobacco. This
is still popular today (but not very good
for you).
Wiggle your ears, and

Japan 1600-1900
Look at the detail on this tiny
rabbit. Can you draw his face?
You’ll find this little Japanese
rabbit in a case with lots of other
Netsuke. Can you say ‘Net su ke?
This rabbit had an important job to do.
Netsuke were toggles used to attach pockets
to traditional Japanese clothes, so they didn’t
fall off.

Japanese hare from the 1800s,
which has longer ears than a
rabbit.
Can you see a line – what do you
think this object is?
What was once stored inside it?
Clue: you’d need your nose!
