The Dyslexia Guild
Why?
Annual Conference
Our conference provides, as always, a great opportunity to meet and network with dyslexia/
SpLD specialists. This year we will also meet with professionals from some of our European
partner institutions engaged in a specialist dyslexia/SpLD project. The conference enables
practitioners to hear expert views and examine current topical issues relating to literacy and
dyslexia/SpLD in a warm and vibrant conference setting. The De Havilland Centre at Hatfield
provides a superb conference location with excellent facilities.
What can I expect from the conference?
Our conference will begin on Wednesday 29 June with a special afternoon international
conference with presentations from our European partners, preceded by a keynote
presentation by Dr Lynne Duncan, an expert in cross-language perspectives. Our afternoon
event will be followed by a pre-dinner drinks event and a conference dinner to enable
discussions to continue into the evening! Overnight accommodation is bookable at the venue.
On Thursday 30 June the full Guild Conference will take place. Expect a warm welcome from
our friendly Dyslexia Action staff, meet researchers and exhibitors and enjoy a networking
lunch. Our keynote speakers Professor Julia Carroll and Dr Jessie Ricketts will explore aspects
of Language Development and Reading and enable you to hear the most current research and
benefit from taking time out of your daily schedule to learn, debate and reflect on cuttingedge practice. Our afternoon parallel sessions provide a range of opportunities to hear
specialist speakers on a variety of topics. An attendance certificate will be provided for your
CPD portfolio.
