At this time we are in the process of finalising nursery school
places for September. Names on our waiting list indicate that we
are still likely to have places available for September. We are very
proud of the resources and facilities we can offer at Strong Close
and know that children are happy, settled and make excellent
progress whilst they are with us. From looking at information about
how parents heard of Strong Close, the main reason is by friends or
family telling them about us. Therefore, we would like your support
in ensuring as many children as possible benefit from attending
Strong Close. If you know any friends, relatives, neighbours who
have a child who will be 3 before August 31st, they will be eligible
for a nursery school place. We would like you to recommend that
they enquire about a place at Strong Close Nursery School and they
can do this by either calling in or telephoning 01535 605272. Make
sure that they give us your details and in return, once their child
starts Nursery, you will receive a £10.00 ASDA voucher.
Many thanks, Nursery School Staff.
Songs and Rhymes
We use music, songs and rhymes every day in nursey as
a fun way of learning, so here are a couple of rhymes
that you can practise at home.
Engine, engine number 9
(Pat your knees in a steady rhythm as you say the rhyme)
Engine, engine, number 9
Speeding down the Northern line.
If you polish it, it will shine
Engine, engine number 9
Whoo, whoo.
Ask children for their own ideas as an alternative to the
“Northern” line, e.g. ‘holiday’, ‘bumpy’, ‘Keighley’.
1,2,3, Mother caught a flea.
1,2,3 mother caught a flea.
She put it in the teapot, and made a cup of tea.
The flea jumped out, Mother gave a shout.
In came Dad, with his shirt hanging out.
(Mime actions as you say the rhyme)
Little black Beetle
Little black beetle, sitting on a rose
Fell on the postman and tickled his nose.
(In a high voice) “Ooops”, said the beetle, “Excuse me please.”
(In a low, deep voice) “Oooh”, said the postman “I’m going to
sneeze. Aaatchoo”
Father’s Days—June 17th & 20th
Last year we held very
successful Activity
Days for any male
carers to join in with.
There were lots of fun
activities to try out
with the children, for
example den
building, making
circuits, investigating magnets. This year we are once
again inviting dads, granddads, uncles, big brothers to
stay and play in Nursery, either on Friday June 19th
or Monday June 22nd. Perhaps you would like to read
stories with the children, play football or cricket,
make paper aeroplanes and challenge children to see
whose can fly the furthest.
We would really
like to see more
males involved in
the nursery so
please come and
join us.
