THERMAL PHOSPHORIC ACID 75, 85 FOOD GRADE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION PRODUCT APPLICATION Clear, colourless liquid with density of 1579 kg/m3 (type 75) or 1685 kg/m3 (type 85) and freezing points of -18°C (type 75) or +21°C (type 85). Both concentrations of phosphoric acid usually remain as supercooled liquids at temperatures considerably below the true freezing point, but the type 85 may crystallize in cold weather. The product is used in food processing as an additive refining sugar, fats and edible oil. It is used as tonic agent in the manufacturing of soft and carbonated beverages. It is also used in the manufacturing of special catalysts, activated carbon, gelatine, hydroxylamine, STPP and other pure inorganic and organic phosphoric compounds. It is used as phosphorus source in fermentation processes, in biotechnology and biological cleaning of sewage waters and in the manufacturing of liquid cleaning compositions. Abbrev. Storage tanks for 85% acid should be heatable to avoid the crystallization of the acid. For the storage of phosphoric acid in drums should be allocated an indoor heated area, in case of 85% acid the temperature should be higher than 21°C. Shelf life: 24 months from production date when stored properly.
