Help!!! I want to devote a
future issue entirely on small
car models of Panhards and
D.Bs. Can you help me? I
need pictures. Even if you
only have one model or
enough to start your own
Mini-Mulhouse Museum.
I
need „em. Please put your
name on the back of the picture, in felt tip pen, NOT ball
point as it will come out as
Braille writing on the front
of the picture. I can scan it
on my super-cool ColorPrinter-Scanner-Copier or if
you wish you can email it to
me at [email protected].
Please tell me when you got
the model and any other info,
it would make for a fascinating issue.

Hello,
I’m sending you some photos (seen below) of my current project, a 1960 HBR5, found deep in the backyard of Brad Ballard
of Hagerstown, Maryland, September 1993. It was towed to Pennsylvania to be brought back to life. As with many of my
projects things started out well. Not knowing what I had bough, “it was a neat car I found in a field?; I started by getting
the power plant to run, surprisingly the engine turned over by hand: so! Clean up the fuel system, change fluids, get spark,
Fire this sucker up! Hey how about that, the engine runs!!!
Knowing the engine ran I could feel confident about getting deeper into the project; first the brakes, then the drive train and
suspension. I found I needed U-joints on the drive shafts; “U-joints I had never seen before.” Luckily I was able to have
them replaced by a guy whose card I found under the seat; Tom Skene.
Well, that was six years ago and I’m trying again to bring Life to the Projects!
I still need the following parts: 1. Rear finned brake drum 2. Motor Mount “Transmount” 3. Side Door Glass 4. Clutch
plate 5. Windshield and rear window rubber molding 6. Front and Rear Shocks.
I have an engine and tranny in a box with some other parts for trade. I will be in Carlisle for the Show in May. Please call
or write me, Mark Lauver, 3500 Brookside Drive, Harrisburg, PA, 17109. Phone 717-540-1586

will be planning some special things for our club, stay tuned for more info.

Special Feature—Artist, Club Member and Panhardiste, Mr. Alvin Petty
Recently I had the distinct pleasure of meeting club member Alvin Petty and his wife, Lynn. Alvin has owned a 1961 PL 17 for many years. He loves his Panhard and enjoys driving it around
the San Francisco Bay Area where he lives with his wife, Lynn, and their two children. He is a
very creative person, doing drawings, sculptures and even a bit of acting. If you have seen The
Matrix with Keanu Reeves, you know the Bad Guys in the film are very sinister and wear dark
suites and very cool sunglasses. Well, guess what Alvin looks in sunglasses and a dark suite, yup,
he looks like those bad guys. So we might be seeing him in a small part in the next sequels to The
Matrix as a Bad Guy…
Alvin has graciously provided the newsletter with a couple of drawings of his rendition of the futuristic and timeless Panhard PL17. He hopes you enjoy viewing them as much as he did in drawing them.
Thank you Alvin.
Could this be a future PL17—
