December 27, 2013 THE WISDOM OF HELEN KELLER THROUGH HER QUOTES We have been impressed with many of Helen Keller’s quotes over the years. Let this be our tribute to the wisdom of this great lady who was truly an inspiration. While she may have been blind physically, this clearly did not affect here VISION. As you’ll see here, it was remarkable indeed … and in some areas even surprisingly so. It is here that we choose to start. This is a common theme of the Beyond Imagination expression and of the works that we have generated for BISPIRIT recently. We have been focusing on discovering who we are for 42 of our 55 years. We suspect such will remain our focus throughout our life. We would have to say that we are indeed happy with what we have found … quite happy indeed. Where we can, we have tried to share our discoveries with others. However, it is not clear that we have been successful in our attempts … not clear at all. Another expression of great insight, this time regarding the discoveries that being optimistic permit. Indeed, they are as grand as we can imagine them to be. Personally, we would be an explorer of consciousness. It seems that Helen Keller was that in her own way as well. BE KIND! SHARE! It is unfortunate that she could not see that kinds of images that creative spirits have be moved to attach to her quotes. Her, we capture several that moved us. It is not our intent to explain each perspective for you. We leave that as an exercise for you to accomplish for yourself. Though, we would over that the first of these evokes the greatest feeling in our soul. If we are going to truly live our life to the fullest, we have to go for the gusto, we have to be willing to take chances, we have to face our fears whatever they are and overcome them. We have to have the courage to BE and to EXPRESS WHO WE TRULY ARE. This is not something that is encouraged in the consensus world. That is OK. We have to choose it nonetheless. We have to lead an authentic life, the very life that we were meant to live. As the final picture quote in this group says: “Security is mostly superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it.” Given that, clearly we should not be basing our decisions on the perceived or imagined security that we think might result. Such would truly be a waste of our life. Such would keep us from doing the very things that enable us to create a masterpiece of our lives. BE KIND! SHARE! Indeed, it still does. Natural beauty thrills me. Here, we have a bald eagle soaring in flight in the foreground with the Grand Canyon in the background. It simply doesn’t get any better than that. The quote is appropiate as well. For me, soaring in consciousness is something I do regularly and naturally. Yes, I feel that impulse EVERY DAY. Given that, how could we ever consent to creep again. Our spiritual nature is moving us to soar. That is the only way in which it can find its expression. But, we have to cooperate. We have to spread our wings and FLY. We all have wings … though, it seems that the vast majority are unaware of this fact. Many people use a lack of time as a reason or justification for not doing things that they might do. But, take a look at this list of illustrious people who accomplished a great deal in the course of their lives. They did not complain of a lack of time. Nor did they waste the time given them. Rather, they put each moment to as good of use as they could. As a result, there productivity and their associated impact was such as to earn them the distinction of GREAT men and women, inspirational people who provided an example of what can be done in the time that we are allotted. Here, we are equal. What distinguishes us is not how much time we have, but what we DO with that time. BE KIND! SHARE! It is important enough that we choose to include seven picture quotes to do it justice. Yes, the images are all very different as are the fonts. All of these would have been lost to Helen. But, they are not lost to us. They offer perspectives into the meaning of the quotes as captured by the artists that created the picture quotes. Note that none of these images was contained within the words of the quote. Though, there is something about the quote itself that touches the soul as well. The heart is the seat of the soul. It is the soul herself that is able to recognize the best and most beautiful. Further, her domain extends well beyond things. BE KIND! SHARE! SERVE! bispirit.org bispirit.com Page 4 December 27, 2013 THE WISDOM OF HELEN KELLER THROUGH HER QUOTES There is great utility in seeing things from different points of view. Until recently, such viewpoints had to be expressed verbally. However, with the internet, the low cost of computers and memory, and the ease in which images can be created or “borrowed”, it is as if we have opened up entirely new modalities for expression. Clearly, we have taken advantage of that. Indeed, picture quotes have been prominent in our last six BISPIRIT works. That trend is likely to continue. There is a saying “the pen is mightier than the sword”. As a spiritual warrior, we have been good with a pen … or in our case a keyboard for two decades. It is only in the past few months that we have started to employ picture quotes in our works. Our take is that this offers expanded utility by enabling what we say to reach others in a whole new way, from a different perspective that enables meaning to reach their heart through an entirely different pathway in their brain. WHAT WE LOVE BECOMES PART OF US Given this, it is clear that we should LOVE DEEPLY, with all of our HEART and SOUL. For that is how we grow. That is how we integrate others and things into who we are. Yes, it is that simple. It all come BE KIND! SHARE! SERVE! bispirit.org bispirit.com Page 5 December 27, 2013 THE WISDOM OF HELEN KELLER THROUGH HER QUOTES down to LOVE. LOVE is the strongest force in the universe. By some accounts such as “A Course in Miracles”, it is the only force. Actually, the Course speaks of both LOVE and FEAR, though it makes it very clear that FEAR is illusory, it is not real. I chose to keep all four of these picture quotes: first, because they were all so different; and second, because they were all so pretty. Every point of view offers something of value. When an artist composes a picture quote, they are expressing their point of view in a primarily visual way. DOORS OF HAPPINESS Helen was very clear on this point. She believed in doors of happiness, and knew that whenever on closed, another opened. From my perspective, it may be that not one but many doors open. This results in us always having choices in our pursuit of happiness. BE KIND! SHARE! SERVE! bispirit.org bispirit.com Page 6 December 27, 2013 THE WISDOM OF HELEN KELLER THROUGH HER QUOTES Helen takes this one step further, reminding us that most of us keep looking at the closed door so long that we fail to notice the doors which have opened. The guiding is clear. Don’t fixate on closed doors. Rather, focus on finding the newly opened ones that are there. WALK WITH A FRIEND What an interesting quote, especially from one who was blind. But, the meaning is clear. Helen put a lot of value in friendships. This demonstrates the degree to which she valued “walking with a friend” to “walking alone”. I clearly have not chosen to live in such a manner in my life. No, my preference has been to walk alone in the light. At least, such is what I believe I am doing. Yes, I attempt to share what I find, learn, experience, and create. But, close friends have been few and far between in my life. And even then, it is not clear that we truly have truly shared things of value. Given my nature as a hermit, perhaps that is to be expected. Hopefully, this is in the process of evolving. My intent is there, but it seems that more than intent may be required. So, how do we manifest the appropriated opportunities? Yes, it seems that such is precisely the next step in our path. We have realized that to do more, we really do need to walk with others … in particular, friends. BE KIND! SHARE! Overall, they are very insightful and soulful. This one is almost intuitively obvious. Many great teachers have observed that life is about learning lessons. The lessons keep returning until we learn what we are meant to learn from them. Indeed, typically, they get more and more challenging if we fail to learn from them. Hear, Helen remind us that we must live our succession of lessons to understand them. This is more than a mental exercise. BE KIND! SHARE! SERVE! bispirit.org bispirit.com Page 8 December 27, 2013 THE WISDOM OF HELEN KELLER THROUGH HER QUOTES Until I saw this a few days ago, I would not have believed Helen Keller to be a Revolutionary. Yet, from this quote, this is clearly the case. Further, it was the case as early as 1916. That is 20 years before my father was born. Indeed, it is only three years shy of a century ago. Here, the focus is on peace education and she referred back as far as the time of Christ. Though, while this may be true in the west, the teaching of peace has been far more successful in the east for several thousand years. Then again, even in the east, there have been many wars and extensive violence. It seems that only some particular cultures have been able to avoid this. If we assess the situation based on results, clearly education has not worked to give us anywhere near the utopia or heaven on earth that we should be able to co-create. What a sage realization. Though, I would offer that this extends beyond a democracy or any form of government for that matter. This is really the test for any society. It is the welfare of the people … the welfare of each and every one of us that matters. We have a collective obligation to ensure that every individual gets what they need physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually in exchange for using their gifts, talents, and abilities in service to society. In Beyond Imagination, we have expressed this as the social contract. Indeed, it smacks of the central principle of communism. But, no society to date has BE KIND! SHARE! SERVE! bispirit.org bispirit.com Page 9 December 27, 2013 THE WISDOM OF HELEN KELLER THROUGH HER QUOTES been able to implement such a social contract. It is not a contract between individuals and their government. It is a collective contract between and among the members of the society. This is one I agree with completely. I encountered it for the first time a few days ago. But, I have been expressing similar ideas since the Beyond Imagination expression began in 1993. While we claim to be a republic with an economic system that provides equal opportunity for all, such is clearly not the case. The world’s wealth and power is in the hands of a very small part of the world’s population. It is indeed the richest, the corporations, the bankers, and the exploiters of labor that get the government to do their bidding. This is not surprising given the role of lobbyists in our society. Those who are able and willing to pay get preferential treatment. The vast majority of the working people remain oppressed as they always have. The Aquarian Age, the Information Age, provides a great opportunity for leveling the playing field. There are many places where one can play in the age. The necessary tools are relatively low cost and easy to use. One can play at the data, information, knowledge, and/or wisdom levels … or any combination thereof. The key is to find something one is PASSIONATE about and do it in a way that provides service to others. Actually, the real KEY is to allow SPIRIT to express as she would through you. This is NOT a matter of giving anything up. Rather, it is a choice to operate at your best in ways that not only serve yourself but serve others. We collectively do not have to accept a few living in ease at the cost of the many. No, it is time to do what it takes to create a world that allows all of us to live at ease in exchange for providing our services. This works best if the social infrastructure allows people to apply their greatest gifts in service in areas that they are passionate about. BE KIND! SHARE! Focus on bringing cheer to others. As you do so, you can’t help but enter a vibrational state where you attract happiness to yourself. It is all about living unselfishly … finding ways to serve others. In this case, in ways that bring joy into their lives. IMAGINATION Here, Helen confirms what we and many great beings over the ages have known … it is through imagination that we enter beautiful realms. It is also through imagination that we discover great things in all areas of endeavor. Imagination is the mother of invention. Further, imagination propels creativity and creative expression. And, that more than anything else, truly makes the world go around as the saying says. LITERATURE Here is another quote that surprised me. Then again, perhaps it should not have. For a blind person, in the late 1800s through 1968, of course literature would have been such a blessing. As Helen says, “my Utopia”. I had never thought to consider characters “book friends”. Authors of the many metaphysical books that I have read, yes. But, for the most part, until recently, I had avoided literature. Also, I grew BE KIND! SHARE! SERVE! bispirit.org bispirit.com Page 11 December 27, 2013 THE WISDOM OF HELEN KELLER THROUGH HER QUOTES up in the TV age. So, you might say that my “friends” were TV show and movie characters. In many respects, that has remained the case to this day. Further, I suspect that I am not alone in this given the statistics that I have seen regarding how much TV the average person watches per week. I was going to say that you cannot get wise that way. But then, David Carradine in the 1970s show Kung Fu came to mind. He played the epitome of a wise character, a Shaolin priest. FAITH These are two very different quotes on faith. Both make it clear that Helen had a very high regard for the power of faith in our lives. In the first, it is the strength that takes the entire world from darkness into light. We can definitely relate to that. Without a strong faith in SPIRIT, what you experience at Beyond Imagination and BISPIRIT would not exist. The second quote counsels us that it is optimism that takes us to achievement. For this, both hope and confidence are essential. Indeed, it is amazing how much we can accomplish if we believe that we can. So, by all means BELIEVE. Then, BE BOLD and take action in accord with what you know that you can do. When you do this … we guarantee that you will be blown away by what you achieve. BE KIND! SHARE! This is something many fail to realize in their entire life. Further, it doesn’t seem to matter whether they are rich or poor. The bottom line is that selfgratification does not lead to true happiness … ever. What does this is commitment and fidelity to a worthy purpose. In my experience, that purpose is unique for each of us. It is something that we have to find for ourself. Undoubtedly, it will be something that we can be passionate about. Indeed, often it is our passion that is what makes the purpose worthy not only for us but to us. Do whatever it takes to find a purpose that stirs your soul. It will do wonders to not only your life, but the impact that you have on the lives of others. DEFICIENCIES, LIMITATIONS, AND CHALLENGES When you think about it, our limitations really do not matter much. They are just other things to either live with or overcome. We tend to think of blindness as a pretty severe limitation. But clearly, Helen did not see it that way at all and NEVER let it make her sad. Let that be an inspiration for all of us, regardless of the limitations we may experience in our lives. BE KIND! SHARE! Our deficiencies are what they are. We need to face them and acknowledge them for what they are. But, as Helen advises: “do not let them master you”. Also, find a perspective in which you can consider such deficiencies as gifts … as challenges that enable you to discover your place and your purpose in the world. No, this is not easy to do. But, it makes all of the difference in the world. It is through experiencing adversity that we learn to be brave and to be patient. If there were only joy in the world, the opportunities for learning many important things … things that make live so precious, simply would not manifest. Such a world might still be joyful, but it would also be BORING. And, as we know from an earlier Helen Keller quote “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” I, for one, prefer for it to be a DARING ADVENTURE. After all, that is so much more FUN! BE KIND! The wisdom revealed here does not just manifest in one’s life. It takes hard, earnest effort to develop it. For one that was both blind and female during the times in which she lived to have done this is remarkable. Clearly, she did not let either of these challenges get in the way of here living the life that she was born to live. Hopefully, this work will allow what she was able to achieve to live on in your life and encourage you to do whatever it takes to accomplish your purpose. Yes, it is this simple. All that is ever asked of us is to be who we are and do the best that we can. That is what sets the stage for the MIRACLES to unfold not only in our life but in the lives of others. Actually, it is the latter that counts the most. When we serve, we cannot help but be served in return. Here, there is as spiritual law invoked. Though, the key is to serve without thought of the reward … to serve because such is what SPIRIT does. To serve because such is what LOVE does. And, if you do not believe in miracles, you are limiting your reality needlessly … so, consider the alternative for a while and see what that does to your experience. What sage advice. Many have told us that failures are simply lessons on the way to success. Our thoughts and our focus need to be on the task at hand and what it takes to succeed at that. Perseverance is critical. That is what allows us to continue on with our efforts until success is at hand. BE KIND! SHARE! SERVE! bispirit.org bispirit.com Page 15 December 27, 2013 THE WISDOM OF HELEN KELLER THROUGH HER QUOTES As Helen says, we will find that we experience JOY in overcoming obstacles. It is not the destination that matters most, it is the journey. I like the final sentence the best: “no effort that we make to attain something beautiful is ever lost.” Yes, this stirs my soul. I truly believe that each of us is here to create BEAUTY in the world in our own unique way. Personally, I believe that I am doing that via the written works at Beyond Imagination and BISPIRIT … including this very work. Your way may be completely different than that. That is OK. Pursue whatever it is to the fullest that you can. Gratitude, being thankful for and happy with what we have is SO IMPORTANT! But, that should not stop us from working for what we want. Indeed, there is nothing wrong with wanting things or experiences. Though, it seems that there may be a point of diminishing returns. If we become too attached to what we want, or if we enslave ourselves to work in order to get them, we may find that we are missing out on LIVING, on enjoying some of the simple pleasures of life. In my experience, there are many things that we can enjoy that are either free or relatively low cost. Simplifying our lives is so important. The most precious commodity that we have is our time. The most important decision that we make in our life is how we use that time. My only advice here is: CHOOSE WISELY. It is amazing how quickly time passes by. Further, this seems to accelerate the older we get. In the second picture quote, there is another part expressed regarding haven been given so much that she has “no time to ponder over that which has been denied”. Once again, she expresses the optimist’s way of experiencing life. Focus on the positive. In the big picture, the negative has little to no value. BE KIND! SHARE! SERVE! bispirit.org bispirit.com Page 16 December 27, 2013 THE WISDOM OF HELEN KELLER THROUGH HER QUOTES This is a concept that I have expressed as well, but not realized or experienced firsthand in my life. I’ve been speaking in terms of creating a spiritual / metaphysical community for over a decade. When I was moved to create BISPIRIT in April 2013, it seemed like that was a strong positive step in that direction. Indeed, my expectations were extremely high as to where this might lead. But, here we are, over 8 months later and BISPIRIT is still a community of ONE. That doesn’t make for much of a community. The only “requirement” for membership is the commitment of a tithe of time (4 hours per week) in service to others outside of one’s immediate family. We did not believe that was too much to ask given that our personal commitment was five times that. Anyway, back to the quote. What you see at Beyond Imagination and BISPIRIT is what I have done ALONE. Then again, that is not quite right. For both endeavors, it is SPIRIT expressing through me. And, for BISPIRIT, we definitely employ the works of others in what we do … especially in our works of late. That we haven’t met the people whose works we employ does not seem to matter. Hmm … so effectively, we are realizing at least some of what we can do TOGETHER; just in a manner that I had not previously considered. ASSORTED OBSERVATIONS AND BELIEFS Helen was far more aware of wonders than the vast majority … indeed, far more aware. Here, she reveals of knowing even the wonders of darkness and silence. In our world, there are so much visual and auditory stimuli that it is virtually impossible to experience the darkness and the silence. Yet, it is in such domains that we are able to retreat within and touch spirit, and touch the source of wisdom within us. This does not mean that light and sound do not have their place. Indeed, they do. But, it is much as the relationship between intuition and reason. We need the former to be the captain of our life. Our reason is a useful tool, but a very poor master as the saying goes. BE KIND! SHARE! SERVE! bispirit.org bispirit.com Page 17 December 27, 2013 THE WISDOM OF HELEN KELLER THROUGH HER QUOTES Helen knew that God was within her. The three analogies that she uses are so appropriate. They are particularly interesting since the color in a flower, and the physical light in darkness were not things that she was able to experience. But, she was able to experience something even better … knowledge and even wisdom providing the light to dispel the darkness in her life. Finding the voice in our silence is something that any of us can do. You might say that such is what meditation is all about. Though, that is not the only way. If we are silent and pay attention, we will find that something within speaks to us. Not just to us, but through us as well. All that is expressed at Beyond Imagination and BISPIRIT is of that nature. As we are finding in our recent works, such expression has been coming forth through many great souls over thousands of years. We are fortunate to live in a time where such knowledge and wisdom is so readily accessible. All tasks that are done with LOVE and to the best of our ability are GREAT and NOBLE. As Helen says, it is our “chief duty and joy to accomplish humble tasks”. There is no greater or lesser among such tasks. The tasks that are ours to do, are ours to do. How we do them is up to us. The preferred method is to the best of our ability. All that it takes to do that is a commitment on our part. We would advise that we treat this as a sacred commitment. But, that is how we treat everything in our life. BE KIND! SHARE! SERVE! bispirit.org bispirit.com Page 18 December 27, 2013 THE WISDOM OF HELEN KELLER THROUGH HER QUOTES An interesting quote from one who could neither see the sunshine nor the shadows that it can leave. Though, one only has to be outside during a sunny day to feel the sunshine on your skin. And Helen interiorized everything. Being blind, she did not have much of a choice in this regard. In her inner world, there was a sun that shone as well as many shadows. The advice is indeed sound. So long as we are focused on the sunshine … all shadows are out of our field of view. Once again, this demonstrates that Helen was truly a humanitarian, concerned for the welfare of others. The greatest way that we can express our gratitude is through service to others. Yes, this agrees with what has been expressed at Beyond Imagination for two decades, and more recently at BISPIRIT. Though, we are not the only ones. There are many wise beings over the millennia that have expressed similar concepts. Given this, it should be clear what choices we should be making. Sharpening our VISION is important in making a masterpiece of our lives. Yes, that means experiencing and expressing LOVE and JOY and avoiding selfishness and complaining to the degree that we can. We are meant to live lives of service. This is NOT meant to be a sacrifice. If we are experiencing it that way, then we are doing it wrong. The KEY to finding the way for us is to find and follow our PASSION. It serves as a compass and map. Actually, it is an inner spiritual guidance system. Though, it only works effectively if we consult it and TRUST what it tells us. We demonstrate that trust by following its guidance. BE KIND! SHARE! If we asked you what the four most important things to learn in life are, what would you say? Think clearly … love everyone sincerely … always act with highest motives … and trust God without hesitation. Note that in very few words, Helen says not only what we need to do but qualifies each with HOW or how well. That is a great deal to express in so few words … yes, a great deal indeed. This is an interesting perspective on knowledge. It is not clear that most would insist on these attributes. Personally, I do not regard knowledge in such a manner. LOVE, LIGHT, and VISION I understand. But these, I would attribute to WISDOM rather than to knowledge. That is OK. Clearly, Helen was ONE for whom the application of knowledge in ways that helped others was a given. With such a perspective, there would be virtually no difference between KNOWLEDGE and WISDOM. It is curious that for over 20 years we have used “In Peace, Love, and Light” in ending many of our communications and our works. Now, we often use “I AM THAT I AM THAT YOU ARE!” followed by a blank line, and then “LOVE”. When you think about it, it all comes down to the expression of SPIRIT. The only stuff out of which that expression can be fashioned is LOVE. You might say that LOVE is ALL THAT IS. Just think about that for a while and see how your reality is transformed. BE KIND! SHARE! SERVE! bispirit.org bispirit.com Page 20 December 27, 2013 THE WISDOM OF HELEN KELLER THROUGH HER QUOTES VISION was extremely important to Helen … not sight, but vision. Blindness was one of the challenges that helped to forge her into what she became, that allowed her to create the masterpiece of her life that she was able to create, and to help and inspire so many others in the process. Being blind not such a bad thing. Far worse is being able to see but having no VISION. This reminds me of a quote on one of the civic buildings in Redondo Beach: “Where there is no VISION, the people PERISH”. If we do not have a picture and plan for what we would create, our utility is limited at best. In our case, we would create a utopia. We understand that many would say that such can never be created on earth. But, we would strongly disagree. What we believe to be possible, we can indeed achieve. It is simply a matter of putting in the effort and allowing SPIRIT to express through us as she will. You might say that VISION is being able to SEE as SPIRIT sees. Interesting, just noticed that Helen lived for exactly 88 years, from 21:32 to 22:32(88). 32 is the number for America = “I Am race” = the race of the I AM. Here, the guidance is that our prayers should be for powers equal to our tasks rather than for tasks equal to our powers. We are meant to take on goals and work that stretches us beyond any conceptions of what we can do. That means overcoming any BE KIND! SHARE! Yes, such is the grandest challenge of our lives. If we find ourselves in despair or in need of help ever, we simply need to go within and touch source for guidance. That help is always there … even before we ask. We just have to stay focused and aware, and notice when it appears in our life. It can come in a variety of ways from a variety of sources. But, it always comes … always. VALUE OF FRIENDS IN LIFE Helen clearly valued her friends. My only exposure to her is via her quotes that are captured in this work. Given that, I do not know a single one of her friends. But, these two quotes and a couple expressed earlier make it crystal clear that she had good friends and considered her life to be enriched greatly by them. The first quote says that even the memory of her beloved friends in her heart was sufficient for her to consider her life GOOD. The second quote says point blank that Helen attributed “the story of my life” to her friends. I find that impressive. Indeed, extremely impressive. In fact, I may even be somewhat envious that such has not been my experience, not to date anyway. My life has been primarily that of a hermit. It is my relationship directly with SPIRIT herself that has been the defining characteristic of my life. That is captured through the Beyond Imagination and BISPIRIT expression. Though, if my VISION of creating a spiritual community comes to fruition, this could indeed change. Though, I have to wonder to what degree LONERS have their place among us. L-ONERS. It is interesting that ONE is contained therein. 12 – ONE – 18 19. 12:The Hanged Man - ONE 18+19=37:”spirit”. There are a couple of ways of interpreting this: 1. It was as if I had found home. I had finally found authors whose works I could relate to. The truths of the works that I was reading touched my mind and my soul in ways that nothing else ever had before. I was hooked. Indeed, I continue to be to this day. Metaphysics stirred my PASSION. Though, my focus was still primarily mental. I was relating to the thoughts and how these thoughts were connected. It wasn’t until nearly two decades later, in 1993 when I underwent a massive spiritual awakening that took me Beyond Mind. From that point on, I was never the same. Spirit and consciousness became my focus. Indeed, I was obsessed by them. Though, it was nearly a decade later for SOUL to take its rightful place in my life. At some point, I discovered that there were twin souls within me. So, you might say that even when I am ALONE, I am NOT ALONE. At this point, I still prefer solitude to society. That will probably always be the case. Helen does not say how her education was conducted. Clearly, there had to be others involved. For me, the opposite has been true for the most part. The bulk of my spiritual and metaphysical education has come from reading books that I found on my own, or from expressing what spirit would express through me. Yet, LIGHT indeed is what we sought from the very depths of our soul. In many respects, we have to reach that point of desperation attract this experience into our lives. It has to be more important than the very air that we breathe. BE KIND! SHARE! Clearly, this was influenced by exposure to eastern wisdom. The sense of humor is quite refreshing though. The difference she speaks of regarding being able to see in that new body made me smile. Helen was the ultimate optimist, even seeing a bright side in death. Most people fear death. Personally, I agree with Helen’s perspective. My understanding is that we take on incarnations as experiences to learn and experiences to carry out particular missions. Yes, our work is as much a part of our life as our education. Know Thyself is the key directive. That is the major lesson in the curriculum. However, it does not seem that we as a society focus on either doing this or facilitating this. Metaphysics, for instance, is still fringe stuff. If my own experience is representative, over 98 percent of my spiritual / metaphysical education occurred outside of any formal educational environment. Yes, there are seminars and classes that are available now … many more than when I was growing up. Further, there are many more metaphysical and self-help books. Some of these have even become bestsellers. So clearly, the information is getting out to more and more people. Though, I would still guess this to be a small percentage. This is another example of Helen’s undying optimism. She was well-aware of the suffering in the world. But, she did not let that deter or depress her. She was also able to see how much adversity and suffering were being overcome. In an earlier quote, she expressed that we need more than joy to learn and grow. Obstacles and adversity temper us. Though, it is not clear that we have to suffer in this process. Though, to fix that, we need to establish a society in which people are responsible for and care for not only themselves but for one another. That is easier to do if we realize that we are ONE. But, such is not what the vast majority are taught. Further, it is not intuitively obvious or the world would be a much better place than it is. In good time. Such is what we are seeking to create at BISPIRIT. BE KIND! SHARE! While we are only ONE, there is still much that we can do. And, through doing these things, we can have an impact and can make a difference. Indeed, Helen’s life and her work exemplified this to the letter. I believe that my spiritual work captured as Beyond Imagination and BISPIRIT have demonstrated this as well. We have chosen to do something and we have chosen to share what we have done. I, personally, would not go so far as to state “I will not refuse to do the something I can do”. For me, this needs additional constraints. For instance, “something that ONLY I can do”. I have found that it is important to apply resources in efficient and effective ways to get the most impact. I should not be doing things that others can do better and/or faster. My preference is to do those things that apply my gifts, talents, and abilities to produce creative written spiritual / metaphysical works that can be shared. Yes, there are other things that I can do. Indeed, I make my living as a systems engineer. But, in that domain, I would never have encountered the two picture quotes above and all of the connections that the make in my mind to books, childhood, the earth, the universe, and to the wisdom of Helen Keller. I consider my life so much richer that metaphysics entered it in the early 1970s and has remained my PASSION ever since. BE KIND! SHARE! That realization is that: There is only ONE SPIRIT, ONE MIND, ONE CONSCIOUSNESS that animates us all. How can it be other than this? By its very definition, ALL THAT IS is whole and complete. There is nothing that exists that is outside of it. Anyway, additional food for thought that hopefully moves you to explore more of what we have to offer. I love this particular image and associated quote. However, the quote above is too difficult to read and making the image bigger did not seem to help. So, we will do something different and simply repeat the quote here: The secret if attraction is to love yourself. Attractive people judge neither themselves nor others. They are open to gestures of love. They think about love, and express their love in every action. They know that love is not a mere sentiment, But the ultimate truth at the heart of the universe. This speaks for itself. There is nothing that I am moved to add. BE KIND! SHARE! Even if this was all that you took away from this particular work and you applied it as best you could in your life, it would indeed make a big difference. You would indeed be a richer person for having had this experience. We can’t ask for any more than that. Though, we have also reached a point where we expect no less of ourself than that. We particularly embrace the final quote. What we are looking for is not OUT THERE, it is IN US! Then again, we realized this when we were a young kid and have been living our life as if we truly believed that since 1974. We were 15 at the time. Now, we are 55. It is so important that we felt it necessary to leave you with this as well. Hopefully, you will find BISPIRIT of assistance in addressing both of these challenges. What you will find so far is the fruit of one person’s life’s work. Though, I am the first to acknowledge that I am indebted to the works of many authors whose works I have read over the past 40 years. We would take this a step further and facilitate your expressing who you are in service in some way. We would build the foundations that allow spirit to express more fully in flesh. Hopefully, you will be moved to join us in building these foundations. In Peace, Love, and Light, Wayne BE KIND! SHARE! SERVE! bispirit.org bispirit.com Page 28
