It is used to identify the given substance as acidic, basic or neutral Procedure- 1. Take red cabbage, beet root or black carrot. Chop it and boil it for 15-20 minutes. Filter it and collect the juice in a container. Your indicator is ready now. You may use it in liquid form or make strips (using strips of muslin cloth or filter paper dip the strips in the juice and let them dry). 2. You may use turmeric also as an indicator by making a thick paste of turmeric with water.
