Then it was off to the line for individuals. Then Revolver Match was first and with Jeff Hall in tow for safety duties, the “A” Team when to work and had the best time on the first two events, Pigeon Board and Hanging Tiles. Although they got beat on the third event, this didn’t affect the outcome as they captured the gold by over 4 seconds. “A” Revolver Left to Right: Hear no Evil, See no Evil, and Speak no Evil (Picture curtsey of Jeff Hall) Carbine Match was next and for a change we started at 100 yards and 7 6” Tiles. For “A” Team, Jeff and Fred started things off by hitting on the 1st volley; the 2nd & 3rd volley was all Jeff, getting 3 in a row. Paul hit next, clipping the wire 3” high, then Jimmy got his and Fred finished up with the last. For “B” Team, it was Tom and I starting off hitting on the 1st volley; then Tom proceeded to hit 3 more, including the last one. Wild Bill Elko showed off his trick shooting by skipping a round into a tile and Gene winged the next to last one. The “B” Team managed to beat the “A” Team by a resounding 3.2 seconds. Moving to 50 yards, “A” Team did much better even though Jeff Hall had an “oh o”. The high light was Paul Davies going 7 for 7. I only wish I could say the same for the “B” Team, we went full time PLUS we left one. It was so bad, 3 of us ran out of bullets. I was lucky because the line judge had some Smith rounds which he gave to me and I actually managed to hit one of two he gave me, giving me a total of 8 on the board. Plates were next, “A” Team did well again with Jeff the high man getting 9 of 9, Jimmy & Fred got 8 of 8, Paul was 8 of 9, and Steve was 8 of 11 for a total of 41 hits. “B” Team had a total of 34 hits with me as high man getting 9 of 9, Tom & Lon got 7 of 9, Bill had 6 of 7, and Gene had 5 of 8. Tiles was the last of the50 yard events and Fred and Jimmy starting things off for “A” Team, then the rest of the team went to town and had a great finish. “B” Team followed suit, with Tom and I getting our 1st ones, then the rest joined in finishing up with an explosion of the last 3 going at the same time. The last event was at 25 yards 4 mo-skeet & 4 1” triangles and “A” team did well with Paul Davies getting 3, however the finally results was not as good as 3 other teams, finishing 4th for the day. “B” had 4 on the 1st volley and finished up quickly, with Lon getting 3 of 3. “B” beat the “A” Team again by 2.7 seconds and because of the strong finished managed to pull out a 3rd place finish! Way to never give up…. “A” Carbine Left to Right: Fred, Steve, Jeff, Paul, and Jimmy “B” Carbine Left to Right: Bill, Tom, Gene, Lon, and Paul Sunday was sunny and hot and after a short opening ceremony the “A” Team formed on the line for the 1st event, 100 yard Tiles. The left side of the line ate up the tiles with Tom getting 4 for 4, Alex got 3, Jeff 1 and the right side, Bill got 1 and Lars got 1. “B” Team had some help from the team next to them and Jeff Light got his 1st three which helped a lot. At the end Lon skinned one and which turned it, then got the one above it and Fred came back and got the one that turned. Moving to 50 yards and the Pigeon Board, “A” Team had a pretty evenly shot board, just 2 volleys too slow. “B” Team’s board needed the right side to go left at the end and theirs too was a couple of volleys to long. The 6” 2 minute rapid fire was next and “A” Team had a total of 42 hits; Alex had 8, Steve had 7, Bill and Paul D. had 6, Tom had 5, Paul H. had 4 and Lars had 2. “B” Team had a total of 28 hits; Jeff L. had 6, Jimmy, Sonny, and Fred had 5, Lon had 4, Gene had 2, Pete had 1, Fred S had 0. The last 50 yard event was hanging 4” Tiles and “A” Team started great, getting 8 for 8 on the 1st volley, unfortunately no one knew I had hit my tile including me. Second volley I came back and nicked it again, thank god Alex saw it that time. Finished in 3 volleys. “B” Team went long with Jeff L. getting 5 for 5 and Jimmy getting 3 of 4, that’s half of the targets. We then moved up to 25 yards for the last event, 4 mo-skeet & 4 1” triangles. “A” Team had a great 1st volley and some of us didn’t even get a 3rd shot off before it was over. With that we were able to get closer to the leading team, the 8th VA. Cav., but ended up 7 seconds short of the gold. “B” Team had a good event also and finished the day in 2nd place. “A” Team Standing Left to Right: Alex, Jeff, Steve, Bill, and Lars Kneeling Left to Right: Tom, Paul D. and Paul H. “B” Team Standing Left to Right: Fred L., Gene, Lon, Fred S. Jeff L and Pete. Kneeling Left to Right: Sonny and Jimmy Respectfully Submitted by Paul Hayes, Secretary WBR
