Presented by the Urban Ministry Center (UMC), HousingFest is on May 28, 2016, at The Fillmore at NC Music Factory. We expect the show to sell-out with 2,000 people in attendance. The HousingFest line-up will have cross-generational, diverse market appeal to help guarantee you reach your target audience. The show features Josh Ritter, named one of the “100 Greatest Living Songwriters” by Paste Magazine, and Lindi Ortega, whom American Songwriter calls “the love child of Johnny Cash and Nancy Sinatra.” Matrimony, the Charlottebased band that Rolling Stone compared to “Mumford and Sons if they were weaned on middle-period Fleetwood Mac” will be making a rare appearance for HousingFest. Justin Fedor, founding member of The New Familiars and Ancient Cities, will be part of the line-up as well bringing his distinctive blend of Americana rock-and-roll. North Carolinabred, New-Orleans based Nikki Hill and her band will bring their roaring boogie, equal parts Staple Singers and AC/DC, to HousingFest. Click Above to hear Nikki Hill’s music. COMMUNITY VISIBILITY The inaugural HousingFest of 2014 featured legendary, Grammy-Award winning performers, The Blind Boys of Alabama and Jim Lauderdale. Held at Charlotte’s Neighborhood Theatre, HousingFest 2014 was a sell-out event, with well over 800 people in attendance. Partnering with 14 sponsors to launch HousingFest, UMC raised over $25,000 to house our community’s most vulnerable homeless men and women. HousingFest 2014 generated an estimated $30,000 worth of promotion through media coverage, and we expect this year’s reach to be significantly greater. HousingFest 2014’s tweets and Facebook posts had a reach of 200,000 and 46,000 people respectively COMMUNITY IMPACT UMC is Charlotte’s lead homeless services agency, dedicated to bringing our community together to end chronic homelessness. Through its HousingWorks program, UMC currently provides 185 units of stable housing with wrap-around support, targeting individuals who have been among the long-term homeless adults in Charlotte. While UMC has made significant progress towards its goal of ending chronic homelessness, nearly 500 individuals in Charlotte continue to struggle with this problem. As a HousingFest sponsor, your investment will support the chronically homeless by raising money to expand UMC’s HousingWorks programs and by increasing awareness for the cause. A study conducted by UNCC found that the average chronically homeless individual costs Charlotte $40,000 per year whereas the same individual can be stably housed by UMC’s HousingWorks program for just $14,000.
