Melbourne is renowned for its fashion, giving visitors an exciting shopping experience. From inner city stores and arcades to unique

and crafts and fresh produce can all be found in and around the city centre and easy access is assured whether using public
transport, or enjoying one of the many tours on offer. Walking is also a great way to shop, especially meandering along
Melbourne’s delightful arcades and laneways. Outside the city centre, visit shopping precincts like Chapel Street in South Yarra,
Acland Street in St Kilda and Brunswick St in Fitzroy, especially on weekends. You’ll find everything money could possibly buy,
plus stacks of streetside cafes for refuelling. Trading hours for most stores are generally from 9am-6pm on Monday to Thursday,
9am-9pm on Fridays, 9am-6pm on Saturdays, and all department stores and most shops are open Sundays from 11am-5pm.
THE CITY

Lygon Street, Carlton

gorgeous designer clothes, shoes and stylish gifts. From Swanston Walk take any
‘University’ tram to the end of the line and walk 200 metres, or take tram #1 or
#22 direct to Lygon Street.
The Sunday Market Victorian Arts Centre
100 St Kilda Road, Melbourne
Ideally located in the heart of Melbourne’s arts and culture precinct, the market
is a short walk from Flinders Street Station across Princes Bridge at the base of
the Art Centre Spine. This market features local artists and craftsmen (over 150
stalls) who sell their own work.

Smith Street, Collingwood
From fashion to sporting good factory outlets: Bardot, Davenport, Calvin Klein,
Bendon, Adidas, Nike, to name a few, there’s a bargain or two to be found
here. The Smith Street Shopping strip between Johnston Street and Alexander
Parade is a hive of activity with locals and tourists alike. From Bourke Street take
tram #86 to stop No. 19.
Prahran Market

With its fresh produce and wide range of delicatessen goods, this lively market
is frequented by locals and visitors alike and is just a short walk from fashionable

Queen Victoria Market

(around 1000 traders) and is renowned as a gourmet paradise with its vibrant
and friendly atmosphere. Its origins date back to 1857 and many of its buildings
have been classified by the National Trust. The Heritage Tour of the market
explores 125 years of history and the Foodies Tour tempts your tastebuds
while allowing participants to meet stallholders.
