Cat Adoption Team helps 391 felines as part of ASPCA & Subaru
“Share the Love” Rescue Ride program
Shelters work together to save more lives through animal transfer
[March 20, 2014] — The Cat Adoption Team (CAT) in
Sherwood, Ore., received a $5,000 grant from the ASPCA
(The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals) to participate in the ASPCA® and Subaru “Share
the Love” Rescue Ride program. This is the second year
that CAT been selected for the program, which assists
with the safe transport of animals to shelters where they
will have more opportunities for adoption.
“The ASPCA & Subaru ‘Share the Love’ grant funds
Riley, a 10-year-old tabby cat, found a loving home
helped save the lives of 391 cats who came to the Cat
within two weeks of transferring to CAT from
Adoption Team from other area shelters,” said Karen
Washington County Animal Services.
Green, executive director of CAT. “We were delighted
to be able to help these once-homeless cats land on their feet!”
Grant funding helped CAT cover veterinary costs such as
spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and microchips for
the incoming cats. Several shelter partners, including
Multnomah County Animal Services, Bonnie L. Hays Small
Animal Shelter/Washington County Animal Services,
Heartland Humane Society, Lincoln County Animal
Shelter, and Willamette Humane Society, transported
animals to CAT as part of the program.
Washington County Animal Services was one of
the local shelters that transferred felines to CAT
as part of the ASPCA® and Subaru “Share the
Love” Rescue Ride transport program.
