DAILY MAINTENANCE CHECK LIST •THROTTLE - Test for smooth “start, acceleration, deceleration and stop.” Repair if not operating normally. Charge or replace batteries if needed. •CASTERS and FLAT-FREE DRIVE WHEELS - Replace if worn or broken. •WIRING - Visually inspect and replace any component that would cause a potential safety hazard. •PNEUMATIC DRIVE WHEELS - Do NOT exceed manufacturer’s recommended tire pressure. •GENERAL - Repair or replace any component that would cause a potential safety hazard. •APPEARANCE - Wipe off and clean. Visually inspect for any signs of damage or potential hazards and repair if damage or hazardous conditions exist. Dirt and debris can mask potentially hazardous conditions. GENERAL MAINTENANCE CHECK LIST (every 6 months) WARNING: Always disconnect battery before servicing. See Section on “Battery Replacement”, items b-d a.Clean and grease the Drive Gear. See Figure 1 - Remove battery cover, batteries and gear cover screw on both sides. - Clean gears and inside of gear covers. - Lubricate gears with Mystike® OG-5 outside gear grease or equivalent. - Reinstall gear covers on both sides, batteries, and battery cover. b.Clean Batteries and battery terminals according to battery manufacturer’s recommendation. RECOMMENDED OPERATING PROCEDURES a.Charge batteries for 24 hours prior to first use. b.In a controlled area familiarize yourself with the operation of the Motor Dolly hand truck before using under an actual load condition. - Power On: Depress Red Main Power Button located on bottom of throttle control. See Figure 2 • Battery Level and Status indicator lights are illuminated. See Figure 2 & 3 - Power Off: Depress Red Main Power Button located on bottom of throttle control. • Battery Level and Status indicator lights are not illuminated. - Drive Mode (Power “On”): Smoothly push Thumb Throttle forward. See Figure 2 - Operation On Ramps (Power “On”): Inclines: Full throttle operation provides maximum power assist. Declines: Releasing of throttle while backing down automatically engages regenerative braking assistance. WARNING: Regenerative braking assistance will merely help slow the natural descent of the powered hand truck. It will NOT stop the descent. - Power Conservation: • Power OFF unit when empty and push the unit manually. • Power off unit when not in use or when loading & unloading. BATTERY CHARGING a. For detailed installation and use of On-board and Off-board charging systems, see enclosed information sheets. b. Status indicator will blink when a charging system detected. See Figure 3 c.Do not store the unit with discharged batteries for more than 30 days, as this can cause premature battery failure. Fully charge the batteries at least every 30 days, if in a low usage location. d. No maintenance of batteries is required. Time to replacement will depend on usage and charging habits. 115 E. Do not use if plug does not have three terminals. BATTERY REPLACEMENT a.IMPORTANT: Replace with original Motor Dolly hand truck battery only. Motor Dolly is not responsible for any adverse effects or personal injury caused by replacement with any other type of battery. b. Always disconnect power before servicing. c. Turn OFF main power at the Thumb Throttle (button out). See Figure 2 d.Disconnect the negative and positive wire bundles from the battery posts and remove the batteries. CAUTION: Do not cross battery posts with metal object! e.Connect the leads marked with the “B+” labels to the positive post (+) first. Connect the black leads to the negative post (-). f. WARNING: Reversing battery connections may damage motor controller! TROUBLESHOOTING a. If the drive system becomes inoperative or you suspect a problem, before contacting technical service do the following: - Turn the Main power off. See Figure 2 - Disconnect the unit from onboard charging. - Check all connections to the controller, throttle, motors and batteries. - Check the AGC 15 Amp fuses of the battery leads. - Using an off-board charge, charge batteries for 12 hours. - Contact technical service if problem is not corrected.
