ResearchAssociate ClinicalSciencesDivision,LieberInstituteforBrainDevelopment;Baltimore,Maryland PrincipleInvestigator:CarolineZink,Ph.D. ResearchunderthedirectionofDr.Zinktakesadvantageofadvancesinhumangenetics andneuroimagingtechniquestogainamorecompleteunderstandingofthecomplex neuralcircuitryunderlyingdistinctcognitiveprocessesrelatedtoindividualsymptomsof schizophreniaandautism.Asaresearchassociate,Iworkedontwoprojects.First,wasa projectthatexaminedtheeffectsofintranasallyadministeredoxytocinandvasopressinon theneuralresponsetosocialeyegazecuesinneurotypicalcontrols.Second,wasaproject thatusedtwonovelvariantsoftheMonetaryIncentiveDelayfMRIparadigmtodetermine theventralstriatum’s(alimbicstructurewhichhasalongassociationwithrewardpredictingcues)roleinmotivation,disentangledfromrewardprocessing(whichisintactin schizophrenia).Onbothprojects,IwroteandeditedMatlabscriptsforanalysisofthe behavioralandfMRIdata,developedapreprocessingpipelineforfMRIdatausingSPM8and Matlabscripts,andwasinvolvedinanalysisanddisseminationofthedata.Lastly,Ihelped otherlabmemberslearnMatlabandSPM8andassistedinpilotingnewfMRIparadigmsat thescanner.
