The1WaveChallengewillattractsurferstoLaJollaShoresonthe
morningofSaturday,January21,2017,forthechancetosmashthe
currentworldrecordforMostSurfersRidingOneWave,afeat
accomplishedsevenyearsagoinCapeTown,SouthAfrica,when110
surfersrodeasinglewavetoshore.

Open,”saidBoystoMenExecutiveDirectorCraigMcClain.“The1WaveChallengegivessurfers,ofallagesandabilities,the
chancetoparticipateinsomethingmuchlargerthanthemselvesatthestartofaNewYear.Weseetheeventgeneratinga
spiritofexcitementandpossibilitythatwillinspireourworkthroughoutthecomingyear.”
Thesecondannualeventwillbelimitedto180participants.Surferswillbechallengedtoraiseaminimumof$250to
participate,withproceedsbenefittingBoystoMen’slife-changingmentoringprograms.Surferswillbetreatedtoa
deliciousbreakfast,aschwagbag–includingacommemorativet-shirt,hatandrashguard–andabeachsideconcert
performedbylocalbeach-rockband,Sandollar.
Runningenthusiastswillhavethechancetoparticipateinanewwrap-aroundevent:TheTorreyPinesAdventureRun.
StartingandfinishingonthebeachatLaJollaShores,the5-milerunwillhaverunnersracingtothebackfenceoftheiconic
TorreyPinesSouthgolfcourse.ThescenicraceroutewillshowcasethebeautyoftheLaJollacoastline,whileexposing

runnerstoitsruggedterrainandexpansivevistas.HostedbyEasyDaySportsandtimedtocoincidewiththe1Wave
Challenge,theadventurerunwillallowrunnerstofinishtheirraceandthenwatchthesurfingspectacleunfold.
TheTorreyPinesAdventureRunregistrationfeeis$60.Afull-raceentryrefundwillbegiventoanyrunnerwhoraises$250
ormorefortheBoystoMenOrganization.Limitedto500participants,theracefeaturesamen’sandwomen’selite
division,ageneralclassificationtime-trialstart,age-groupawardsandbreakfast.

ChampionsforYouthisafriendlycompetitionbetween12participatinglocalcharities.Thenonprofitthatraisesthemost
revenueisrewardedwiththelargestportionofarevenuepoolmadepossiblebythegenerosityofCenturyClubmembers,
throughSanDiego'sPGAtourevent,theFarmersInsuranceOpen.Youth-focusedcharitieswillfundraiseuntilthelastdayof
theFarmersInsuranceOpen,January29,2017.Eachcharityviestoearnbonusfundsfromthe$250,000FarmersCares
BonusPoolbasedonhowmuchtheyraisecomparedtoeachother.TheCenturyClubcoversallofthedonationprocessing
fees,providesresourcesandhelpsspreadtheword,throughtheFarmersInsuranceOpen,aboutthecharitiesandthe
youthandfamiliestheyserve.
