Imagery in children‟s literature brings the text
alive,
Towards evening they packed up and set off
for home. The sun was flinging a million
golden mirrors in a lane across the water. It
glowed on the bare patches of the sand hills
and lit up the bushes and tussocks till every
stem and twig shone with rosy fire. The little
boat came gliding in to shore through the
chuckle of the ripples (Thiele, 1963, p. 24 ).
The reader has a clear picture of the scene and
the feeling of the landscape.
Details, details
Para-
phrase
Children‟s literature is an established
international academic field. It is taught in
many different academic areas such as
education and health. The journals of
professional organisations which research
children‟s literature address practical and
theoretical issues. It is important to define what
we mean by children‟s literature (Winch,
Johnston, March, Ljungdahl, & Holliday, 2006).
