International recording artist and award
winning ensemble Roots Rock Society will
be performing a special 10th anniversary
concert at Bells in Kalamazoo on January
9th. Drawing from various world music
styles including reggae, zouk and Latinbeat, the Chicago-based group has had a
lot of success in West Michigan, maintaining a loyal following over the years. Call

Some Classic Jazz Coming Your Way
Once called "the ultimate in jazz bigband," the Bird of Paradise Orchestra will
amaze you Saturday, January 77th at Saint
Cecilia Music Society as part of their tenth
season of The Classic jazz Series. This 16
piece ensemble from Detroit has made its
home at the Bird of Paradise jazz Club in
Ann Arbor and is led by big-time bassist
Paul Keller. From well-known standards to
classic jazz compositions, the band recalls
the era of Ellington, Basie, Herman, and
Lanceford with an enthusiastic, powerhouse

John Ball Zoo is planning a four night bus
trip to visit other state zoos. Included will
be the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha,
Nebraska, the Kansas City Zoo and the St.

Beauty and the Beast On Ice glides into
