Outside is a good place for this. Write down sounds you hear around you. What do
you hear? What makes the sounds you hear? What feelings or thoughts do you have
about those sounds? Write a free verse poem about sound. Free verse poems
have no rules, no structure, no particular rhyme or rhythm. They are whimsical and

on little cat feet.
