LEXCOR COMPANY PROFILE
Lexcor was incorporated in 1960 to develop and market
new commercial roofing accessory products. In 1965
Lexcor diversified into the production of roof access
hatches and vents and later into acrylic skylights.
Lexcor is represented by knowledgeable agents or
distributors around the country. We support and are
represented in various construction and trade associations.
Lexcor continually strives to remain at the technological
forefront in our industry. The knowledge and experience
gained in the past has resulted in the quality products
described in this brochure. Though we have tried to be as
comprehensive as possible, specifiers are encouraged to
discuss their hatch or vent requirements with a Lexcor
representative prior to making a selection.

Lexcor hatches are built to withstand
live loads up to 40 lbs (18 kg) per
square foot.
• WEATHERTIGHT - Door lids are
sealed with a durable neoprene
gasket.

• INSULATED - When we first
started making hatches 45 years
ago, we insulated them similar to
the roofs of that day. Now, times
have changed and most office
roofs are being insulated to at least
an R-20. Lexcor is the first
company to offer roof hatches fully
insulated to this level.
• CHOICE OF METAL - Hatches can
be fabricated from galvanized steel
(coated in a grey primer paint), mill
finish aluminum, stainless steel or
copper.
• HEAVY DUTY HARDWARE Cadmium plated pintle hinges and
door latches.
• INSIDE & OUTSIDE LATCH
RELEASES - Internal latch includes
a padlock hasp for locking. Outer

R-130 CUSTOM SIZE ROOF HATCHES
Single leaf custom size roof hatches are available in sizes from 61 cm (2’0”) square to 152 cm (5’0”) square.
Lexcor recommends a double leaf hatch (see Series R-140) for roof openings larger than 152 cm (5’0”)
square. All Lexcor hatches are also available in copper, stainless steel and galvanized curbs with aluminum
lids. For a custom designed hatch, we recommend that you consult with a Lexcor representative.

SAFETY BAR HANDLE
WIND GUST CONTROL UNIT
The Lexcor Safety Bar Handle
is engineered to ensure safe
access to the roof surface in all
types of weather. The safety bar
fits and is recommended for
Lexcor Series R100, R110
and R130 roof hatches.
Going on a roof in windy conditions
is very dangerous and should not
be executed. But even light wind
gusts can damage the roof hatch.
This device will reduce the speed
at which the cover can be opened.
The Safety Bar Handle is also available as a kit complete
with fasteners and instructions to install on existing
hatches.
SKYLIGHT DOMES
The Safety Bar Handle is coated with 20 mil. PVC (colour
coded roof safety green), is easy to install, can be
mounted on the left or right side of the opening, and
provides safety with economy.

Short Form Specification
Lexcor hatches can be easily specified with a wide variety of options simply by adding the appropriate option
suffix (see table below) to the product code. For example: R-100G/DD/VG/SB/R20 signifies a 30” x 36” galvanized steel hatch with double clear acrylic dome glazing, vandalproof grid, safety bar handle and R-20
insulation system.

Deck opening size shall correspond to hatch size. Curb and door(s) shall be (14 ga. primer coated galvanized
steel; 11 ga. mill finished aluminum; 14ga. Type 304 Stainless Steel; 24oz Copper) and shall be neatly welded
and ground at corners. Door(s) shall have (1” [25.4mm] fiber insulation with a minimum density of 4 lbs (1.8 kg);
3.3” [83.8mm] poly Iso. insulation) and a door liner of (18 ga. Primer coated galvanized steel; 22 ga. mill finished

doors, latching mechanisms, interior (and exterior) padlock hasps and neoprene draft seal. Door(s) shall be
equipped with an automatic hold-open arm complete with a foam rubber grip handle. All hardware shall be
(cadmium plated; stainless steel). (Galv. steel hatch shall be factory finished with grey primer). Installation shall
be in strict accordance with Lexcor instructions.
Hatch(es) shall be warranted to be free from material or workmanship defects for five (5) years. Primed hatches
should be painted.
OPTIONS:
[Hatch(es) shall be equipped with 1-3/8” (35 mm) diameter Safety Bar coated with 20 mil PVC colour coated
roof safety green. Safety Bar shall be mounted on the (right; left) corner of hatch curb without impeding
operation of the door.]
[Hatch shall be glazed with (single; double) acrylic dome(s) manufactured to support 39.9 lb/ft2
