Summer Reading Study Guide
9 Academic
This study guide is designed to enhance your understanding of your summer reading novel. As
you read, focus on the changes the protagonist (main character) undergoes physically,
mentally, and emotionally. What conflicts occur as the protagonist interacts with his
environment and other characters?
As you read the book, complete the following charts and note sheets on characters, conflicts,
plot, and vocabulary. We also encourage you to make notes in your text (using underlining,
highlighting, writing in the margins and post-it notes) to mark important events as well as
sections that you find confusing.
We look forward to meeting you next year!
