UTAH NARCOTIC OFFICER’S ASSOCIATION 2017 CONFERENCE Chiefs, Sheriffs, Detectives, Supervisors, Managers, Task Forces, Street Teams, Prosecutors and Analysts: Please join us for the 2017 annual UNOA Training Conference, August 21st through 24th at the Casablanca Resort and Casino, in Mesquite Nevada. This year’s theme is "Undercover Blues”. We are honored to have Brian Sallee as one of our keynote speakers on Tuesday Morning. Undercover Officers face many dangers when performing their duties. They must be aware of the dangers presented by the offenders and possible interference from the public. There is another danger which is rarely considered. That danger is mistakenly being shot by a fellow police officer. Blue on Blue shootings are a realistic danger, which creates the most tragic incident a police officer will be involved in. We will also be privileged to have FBI-LEOKA Presenter Marcus Young, to present: The FBI’s Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted (LEOKA) Program is a nation-wide law enforcement safety initiative. Ongoing research is dedicated to our nation’s law enforcement professionals who continue to make many sacrifices in serving and protecting society. The FBI-LEOKA Program’s function statement is to reduce incidents of law enforcement deaths and assaults by providing data, research, and presentations relevant to law enforcement safety. The LEOKA Program is designed to assist law enforcement managers, trainers and personnel in the identification of training issues for the purpose of preventing the deaths and/or serious injuries of law enforcement personnel. This program is based on more than twenty years of research by the FBI in collaboration with local, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement agencies throughout the United States. This presentation includes reviews of case studies with video interviews of officers and offenders involved in violent encounter situations. On Wednesday and Thursday training will be in four hour blocks, with four to five options to choose from! This year over two-thirds of the classes will be new, with four to five classes offered during each session.
