BIG WRITER OF THE WEEK! Last week of Term 2 our Big Writer of the Week was Ayden Phillips. Great work Ayden! This week’s Big Writer of the Week is Jaxon McCarthy. Congratulations Jaxon! PARENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS: Thank you to those parents who have returned their requests for a parent teacher interview. These will be conducted over the next two weeks. If you have not yet returned your form, please do so as soon as possible. We wish to chat with every family. WRITERS’ FESTIVAL: This year we have a whole school focus on writing. You will have seen this at our campus through the Big Writes and other writing activities. We thought that as our children were doing so much wonderful writing and working hard as writers, we needed to celebrate this. Writers celebrate writing at Writers’ Festivals. This is exactly what we are planning to do. On Wednesday 31st August 6pm-8pm, we will be holding The Peranbin Primary College Writer's Festival at Violet Town. There will be lots more information to come but please lock in this date for now so that you can come along to celebrate all the wonderful writers we have in our school. Each student will be working towards producing a story and a poem to enter in the Festival. Each of the Junior Class students have been given a book of poems. A big thank you to Ms Chapman for putting this booklet together. Please enjoy reading the poems with you child, over and over. It is fun and will support the work we will be doing in class. HOMEWORK EXPECTATIONS FOR THE JUNIOR CLASS: Junior students are expected to read their take home book, practise reading (and then writing) their M100 words and practise their spelling words each night. The spelling words are part of a new program we are following. Children practise their words each day in class and each night at home. Each Friday they have a spelling test. On short weeks, like this week, spelling homework is not given. Students are required to bring their take home reading bag (with diary and homework book inside it) to school every day. Please remind your child to put it in their schoolbag each night after doing their homework. BALD ARCHYS: We haven’t had a lot of response for volunteers to help with the Bald Archys. If you are able to help out could you please return the attached forms to Pamela O’Connor. This is a great way to raise money for our school. BONFIRE NIGHT: Due to the wet weather our Bonfire Night has been postponed until September. REMINDER: If you are not picking up your child from school, could you please contact us and advise us about who will be collecting them. 2017 EROLMENTS: We are now taking enrolments for next year so if you know anyone starting school next year please let Roz or Eron know. Enjoy the weekend, Eron, Roz, Kate, Pauline and Barb This week in the Junior Room we began our exploration of poetry by writing acrostic poems about SNOW.
