There will be 3 authors to meet and a craft for adults to do. There will be a talk about Grant Wood and a Reader’s Theater event. Our Children’s Library renovation is nearly done, and we expect the new workstations for the Public Access Computers to be delivered at the end of this month. This is also the month of next Book Sale. This is my third anniversary as your librarian. I am so grateful for your support and your patience as I learn how to better meet the needs of this community. Donations towards furnishings for our children’s library continue to come in and as we receive enough to purchase something we buy another item. The updates have enhanced the room and we will continue to change some items to better serve the public. Thanks go out to all the wonderful helpers that moved furniture or helped to re-shelve books. It was a huge undertaking preparing and moving books, but the end results made it all worth the effort. We continue to have Story Time each Monday at 10:30 am, and we would love to have you and your child or grandchild stop in the children’s room to join us. We use the Very Ready Reading program for our sessions. Some new books we have added to our collection include the following: Just One More by Rolli, Shackleton’s Journey by Grill, Let’s Sign, Baby! by Ault, 5 Minute Marvel Stories, the Newbery Honor Award books- Doll Bones by Black and El Deafo by Bell. We also added a new copy of the classic story Chitty Chitty, Bang Bang by Fleming and some more books in the I Survived series. The Friends of the Library are hosting their spring book sale, March 18 – 23. Also included in our sale are video’s, CD’s and audio books. Something is here for all ages-the best deal in town. For our Friends of the Library members we have a preview showing on March 18, 5:00 – 7:00. To show our appreciation to our Friends of the Library, snacks will be available. More information will be coming to you soon. Just mark that date on your calendar now so you can join in the fun with other members of the Friends of the Library. The Friends of the Library invite you to attend our presentation on Grant Wood Saturday, March 28th ~ Community Room at 2 pm. This speaker is made possible through the Iowa Humanities Council. The Friends of the Library Spring Bling Fundraiser Sale will be coming! So, save those purses, jewelry, and fashion scarves when you are doing your spring cleaning/reorganizing! The Friends of the Library are going to offer these gently used items that you may have grown tired of but will delight the next person.
