TECHNIQUE TIP
Place the keyboard directly in front of your chair with the front edge
of the keyboard even with the edge of the counter. Place copy to the
left of the computer/monitor.
SPACING TIP
Strike the Enter key (right little finger) twice to insert a double-space
(DS) between 2-line groups.
Key each line as shown. Keep your eyes on the copy as you key.

Choose program commands and options by using the Office Button

The Save As command is under the Office Button
. Saving a
document allows you to exit the program without losing the text you have
keyed. Save As allows you to name your document and designate a
location to save the file.

Click on the Office Button.
Click on Save As.
The Save As dialog box appears.
Key the filename in the File name text box –
LastnameFirstintial 1 Home Row Keys
5. Select the location to save – your name’s Home Directory (Q:) and
then the Computer folder.

SEMICOLON TIPS
 Use a semicolon to separate independent clauses in a
compound sentence when the conjunction is omitted.
o Doris plays hockey; Delores plays basketball.
 Use a semicolon to separate independent clauses when they
are joined by a conjunctive adverb (however, therefore,
consequently, and so on).
o Michael lives in Colorado; however, he was born in
Wyoming.
 Space once after ; used as punctuation.
