REGULATIONS, RULES AND CONDITIONS OF
THE III INTERNATIONAL LEOPOLD AUER
VIOLIN AND STRING QUARTETS COMPETITION ®
Dates held: October 17th to 25th , 2015
City: Saint-Petersburg, Russia
I. GENERAL CONDITION
Goals and objectives:
•
To contribute to development of Russian and global art of violin playing as a whole;
•
Popularization of the Russian school of violin playing;
•
To search for and support talented musicians;
•
To help gifted violinists in perfecting and augmenting their professional skills.
Main events:
1. Open International Competition for Violinists and String Quartets.
2. Master classes.
3. Competition prize winners’ Gala Concert.
4. Concerts of the members of the Jury
Copyrights:
Hereby a Participant states that any third party will disclaim copyright and/or other legal rights on
materials created during the Competition.
All rights for distribution of audio and video materials of the Competition, including commercial
purposes, belong to the “Producer Center “The Russian Festival, LLC”.
Moreover, a Participant transfers rights gratis for broadcasting and distributing materials to the
Organizing Committee for an unlimited period of time.
Organizing Committee has a right to broadcast auditions of the Competition as well as the final
Gala Concert on radio, television and internet, without any additional payments to Participants.
Audio and video recording during competitive auditions is prohibited.
II. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION.
The Competition will be held in two nominations:
1. Violinists (solo)
2. String Quartets.
Age Groups:
Junior: under 17;
Senior: between 17 through 35.
Age of participant is defined at the date of Opening Ceremony of the Competition.
Rules for conducting Competition
For Nominations «Quartets» (Junior, Senior Groups) and «Solo» «Junior Group», a Competition
will be divided into two Rounds.
For Nominations «Solo» «Senior Group», a Competition will be divided into three Rounds.
No more than12 Participants will be allowed to participate in Round II in each category.
No more than 6 Participants will be allowed to participate in Round III (Final).
All auditions are held in public.
A Participant may give a performance with an accompanying concertmaster. If necessary,
Organizers of the Competition may provide a Participant with a concertmaster (service by
concertmaster – 1 hour rehearsal + 1 performans -50€.
Every extra hour of rehearsal is 40€.
Payment should be made to "Russian Festival" LLC prior rehearsal.
Guidelines for Application.
Any person wishing to take part in the Competition should send an Application for Participation.
Content of the Application for Participation:
Application Form prepared according to Form #1;
Competition Program prepared according to Form #2;
A copy of document confirming musical education (or Proof of the Current Student Status);
A copy of Passport or Birth Certificate;
Brief performance resume including names of the educational institutions, teachers, data on
participating in other music competitions;
Photo (not less than 600х800 pixels in electronic form or 6х12 cm in printed form);
All materials submitted to the Competition will not be returned.
All documents should be submitted to the Organizing Committee by e-mail not later than June 30,
2015. Organizing Committee has a right not to consider applications received after the deadline
date.
For applications sent by regular postal service submission date will be defined according to the
stamp of the sending post office not later than May 30, 2015.
In case a candidate refuses to participate in the Competition no documents and entry fees will not
be returned.
Decision on admission to participation in competitive auditions will be announced by Organizing
Committee not later than June 30, 2015. All participants will receive an official Invitation.
A Participant should personally be responsible for applying and obtaining a Russian Entry Visa
based on Invitation provided by the Organizing Committee.
On arrival to the Russian Federation a Participant is required to list all brought musical
instruments in the customs declaration.
Signature of a Participant put in the Application Form confirms that He/She is fully agreed with
Terms and Conditions stated in the current Regulations.

Participant
Violinists (solo players) – 100€ or equivalent in Russian Rubles according to the exchange rate of
Central Bank of the Russian Federation on day of payment;
Quartets – 200€ or equivalent in Russian Rubles according to the exchange rate of Central Bank
of the Russian Federation on day of payment.
Guests:

Teachers – 50€ or equivalent in Russian Rubles according to the exchange rate of Central
Bank of the Russian Federation on day of payment (Registration Fees include: free-of-charge
attendance of all Rounds of competitive performances, free-of-charge attendance of the Opening
Concert as well as 1 (one) free-of-charge master class at your choice);

Guests – 30€ or equivalent in Russian Rubles according to the exchange rate of Central
Bank of the Russian Federation on day of payment (Registration Fees include: press kit, free-ofcharge attendance of all Rounds of competitive performances, free-of-charge attendance of the
Opening Concert).
Organizing Committee does not cover expenses on boarding and accommodation for
Participants of the Competition from other domestic cities as well as for those who arrived from
abroad.
All Participants should be ready to give a gratis performance in charity concerts organized within
the framework of the Competition.
All Competition Winners are obliged to give a gratis performance in final Gala concert. In case a
Participant refuses to take part in final Gala concert He/She may be deprived of the Prize.
Competition Winners must be ready to give a performance in other concerts organized and
financed by the Organizing Committee within 12 months after the Competition.
Compact disk with performances of one or more Competition Winners maybe recorded based on
decision by the Organizing Committee.
Additional terms:
Master class.
Within the framework of the Competition there will be organized 7 (seven) open master classes
by the Jury Members.
One master class fee – 25€ or equivalent in Russian Rubles according to the exchange rate of
Central Bank of the Russian Federation on day of payment.
Package includes 3 (Three) master classes– 70 € or equivalent in Russian Rubles according to
the exchange rate of Central Bank of the Russian Federation on day of payment.
Package composed of 4 (four) master classes* – 90€ or equivalent in Russian Rubles according
to the exchange rate of Central Bank of the Russian Federation on day of payment.
Package composed of 7 (seven) master classes* – 150€ or equivalent in Russian Rubles
according to the exchange rate of Central Bank of the Russian Federation on day of payment.

International Music Academy, Assistant Professor of Violin, Wichita State University (USA).

Ilya Ioff - Honored Artist of Russia, Artistic Director and Soloist of the "Divertissement" string
ensemble, Professor of violin at the St. Petersburg Conservatory.
Nina Nikitina - Special Music School named after S.S. Lyakhovitskaya, Head of the string
department, St. Petersburg
Boris Vayner - Winner of International Competitions
Violist of the Saint Petersburg String Quartet, Director of Suprima Chamber Orchestra. (Wichita,
USA),
3 more members will be announced.
Chairman of the Jury shall be appointed by the Organizing Committee. The Jury has the right do
not award all the prizes or to share one prize between several participants. The Jury's decision is
final and not subject to revision.

SOLO:
Grand Prix – 5000€ (equivalent in Russian Rubles according to the exchange rate of Central
Bank of the Russian Federation) and Solo Recital performed at one of the main venues of SaintPetersburg.
First Prize
Senior – 3000€ (equivalent in Russian Rubles according to the exchange rate of Central Bank of
the Russian Federation)
Junior – 1500€ (equivalent in Russian Rubles according to the exchange rate of Central Bank of
the Russian Federation)

Senior – 1500 € (equivalent in Russian Rubles according to the exchange rate of Central Bank of
the Russian Federation).
* Organizing Committee acting as a tax agent shall calculate taxes on personal income
and withhold it out of prize money in compliance with tax laws of the Russian Federation.
As from receipt of a Prize a Winner will be held responsible for payment of all taxes or
other existent obligatory payments to the extent required under applicable legislation.
Participants who took the 4th and 5th place will receive a title “Diploma Winner”. Special prizes
from Jury and Sponsors.
All Participants of Competition will receive a Certificate of Participation.
Winner of Competition should get the prizes and diplomas in person.
