Congratulations to the Copper Mill Elementary School March Star Students!
ZHS Art Department Shines At LSU
The Zachary High School Art Department is proud to announce that several students were
recently honored at a reception for the Louisiana State University Statewide Student Art Show
at the LSU Foster Gallery. Over 300 entries were submitted throughout the state. Zachary High
School had the most accepted entries and was named an outstanding school for the Arts by
LSU. Congratulations to the following students on their hard work and passion for the arts.

Pi Day At NMS
Students at Northwestern Middle School have been busy celebrating Pi Day. Teachers
displayed their favorite pies while students measured the circumference and diameter of snack
pies. The activity concluded with the consumption of the pies.
NMS Choir Shines At District Festival
Congratulations to the Northwestern Middle School Choir on their performances at District
Festival. The 8th grade choir received a sweepstakes award and an invitation to compete at State
Festival. The 7th grade choir received a superior award in concert.

Lunch In The Great Outdoors
Zachary Elementary School recently held its first annual “Lunch in the Great Outdoors”.
Parents were invited to join their children for a picnic lunch followed by field games.
The event was a success!!
Gumbo On The Bayou At RPES
On Wednesday, March 23rd, Mrs. Charbonnet’s class at Rollins Place Elementary School hosted
Taylor Dupre, a ZHS graduate and recently turned author. She read her newly published
children’s book Gumbo on the Bayou & presented each child with a signed copy. Taylor began
writing this book as a part of a project through the00 STAR program at Zachary High School.
NMS Track Team Excels
The Northwestern Middle School track team recently competed in the Trafton Relays. Both the
girl’s and boy’s teams won first place. Sean Burrell and Vernon Reado broke the high school
record in the 400m dash. Congratulations!

Zachary-Native Awarded LSU Scholarship
Congratulations to Zachary-native Alexander Singleton for being awarded the LSU University
College’s Dr. Gerald L. & Gayle W. Foret Scholarship. Alexander is a freshman majoring in
Mass Communication. The Dr. Gerald L. & Gayle W. Foret Scholarship is generously provided
through the support of Dr. Gerald L. and Gayle W. Foret of Franklin, LA. It is awarded to a
full-time LSU freshman student enrolled in University College with a minimum of 3.0 GPA.
Congratulations Alexander on joining this elite group scholarship recipients!
