Origin of the game of Chess
Originated in Bharat(India) by the name Ashtapad, this ancient game has historical references in India

We organise Chess & Carrom tournament providing chess sets, clocks & arbiters including the delivery as well

Organized Grand Master Coaching Camp of Russian Grand Master Alexander Forminyh at
Russian Culture Centre on April 27, 2009.
Free lectures on basics of Chess are delivered to schools with underprivileged children.
Chess Promoters of Mumbai has worked excellently for Chess for about 2 year now & has
tried to improve the Sports system through a various ways and has been quite successful.
Few rated players had started this association on August 10, 2008 to pay back to the game of
Chess whatever they had achieved from Chess.
We have successfully organised the following 22 Rapid Chess Tournaments in 2009 about 2
tournaments per month which is a record in itself !!!
1. WIN AT CHESS OPEN SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP at Model English School on August
10,2008 having 200 participants with a entry fee of Rs. 100.
2. OPEN at Dombivli Gymkhana on Aug 21, 2008 having 120 entries with a entry fee of Rs.

3. OPEN CHESS TOURNAMENT at Dombivli Gymkhana on September 14,2008 with Rotary
Club of Dombivli, West having 240 students with entry fee Rs 50.
4. OPEN-Rotary Bhavan on September 28, 2008 having 130 entries with entry fee of Rs. 200.
5. OPEN at Somaiya College on December 11, 2008 having 50 entries with no entry fee.
6. MONTHLY TOURNAMENT at Gurukul School on Jan 4, 2009 with 80 entries with entry fee of
Rs.150.
7. Simultaneus Chess Tournament on January 16, 2009 at Gurukul School with over 30 entries.
8. Simultaneus Chess Tournament on January 17, 2009 at Dombivli Gymkhana with 40 entries.

1, 2009 with a record 283 entries.

About the Coach
Saurabh Barve is an International FIDE Rated Player from Mumbai. He has been playing Competitive
Chess since 1992, from the age of 7. He regularly represents India at international Chess tournaments all
over the world & has won prizes for India in 10 different countries. He has won many National level
Tournaments, represented Mumbai University at Nationals & excelled in various International
Tournaments. He loves attacking opponent’s king & has consistently defeated World-class Grand
Masters including Gerald Schebler of Germany, SimonianHrair of Armenia, R.R.Laxman of India,
International Masters & many reputed players.
He has been actively involved in the promotion of Chess. He is the founder & President of Chess
Promoters Group - an organization formed to organize technically sound, professional chess
tournaments & provide quality chess equipment & also to improve the IQ of students, to increase Chess
literacy, create Chess awareness among general masses & create passion for the game. He regularly
organizes free chess seminars & arranges free lectures in some impoverished schools.
SaurabhBarve has completed MBA (MMS Marketing) & B.E. (Information Technology) from Mumbai
University. He is widely respected as an uncompromising fighter against every injustice.
He is the author of the books 'A Complete Chess Repertoire for an Attacking player' & 'A Complete
Chess Course for an attacking player'
