USING A STUDENT PROGRESS REPORT A GUIDE FOR HOMEROOM TEACHERS When might you issue a progress report? • • • • Multiple recent entries on Synergetic If a student is accumulating multiple SBRs. Noticeable changes in attitude or behaviour If you have a ‘gut feel’ that something isn’t right – trust your instincts How do you issue a progress report? • • • • • • Email subject teachers (easy to do through Synergetic when on a student click classes tab, right click and select Email all records to email all teachers of that student) Ask them to give you email feedback on relevant areas or fill out a progress report you have placed in their pigeonholes. Teachers need to fill this in and place back in your homeroom pigeon hole (72 hours is a reasonable time for Progress Reports to be returned) Discuss the report with the student, parent and Dean if necessary Scan the Progress reports via photocopier and send them to yourself (there are instructions above each house photocopier) Enter Pastoral Record with summary of student/parent conversations and attach PDF of Progress reports Congratulate yourself on a job well done! Examples of Progress Reports A Most progress reports are sent as an email these days and an example of an email may be: Dear Friends, Could I have some feedback on ________ __________ (Year 11) progress in relation to: 1. Current academic effort in your subject 2. Concentration levels in class (and if they are disruptive). If I could have this back to me by ________ (roughly 72 hrs) that would be great. Regards, B Occasionally a formal report is needed if there is a serious situation going on or you need a more in-‐depth look. In this case the following report can be emailed to teachers. They print and return in the 72hour time frame.
