“The only way to have a friend is to be one.” ~
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ms. Mullowney, CP Media Specialist and Ms. Marmo, CP
School Psychologist are collaborating on library lessons
centering around the theme of friendship and what it
means to be a good friend. Here (photo at right) they
are talking to Mr. Filson’s class using the text “Making
Friends is an Art.”
The Conference Café returns to CP – the Fifth
Grade team, with the help of room parents, will be
running the Conference Cafe, selling coffee and baked
goods while you wait for your scheduled afternoon
(sorry, no evening café) parent/teacher conference in
November. Proceeds will go towards funding the Fifth
Grade Service Project. All items will be in the 50 cent-range- a real bargain!

Halloween at CP
ESL Trip To Duke Gardens - On October 27, CP's 2nd through
5th grade ESL students visited the Doris Duke Estate to develop
language skills by discussing the habitats of different plants and
wildlife. ESL teachers Mrs. LaCasse and Mrs. Goldberg, science
teacher, Mr. Emmons and garden educator Mrs. Parker guided
their explorations and encouraged students to use their new
English vocabulary to converse, ask questions, draw and
eventually write about the trip. It was a beautiful fall day to
experience and be motivated by New Jersey’s natural beauty.
 Parent Teacher Conferences – Please note that if you
need to bring your child(ren) with you to parent/teacher
conferences, there will be chairs placed outside of classroom
doors for your child(ren) to sit and wait for you while you visit
with the teacher. Instructional aides will be posted in
hallways to ensure the safety of students in hallways.
 Terhune Pie Fundraiser – The 5th Grade class is selling
delicious pies from the famous Terhunes Orchards, all profits to
