Please call or write a note if you are aware of your son or daughter being away. Thank you. STUDENT WITH HEALTH CONDITIONS: Let the school know as soon as possible if your child has a severe medical issue like anaphylaxis, seizures, diabetes or a heart condition. Parents/guardians will need to complete a medical alert form for the school. Students with severe allergies (anaphylaxis) are also required to provide two doses of epinephrine (e.g. Epi pen); one to be kept in the office and one to be kept with the child. Please contact the school if you have any questions. GREENOLOGISTS/ OUTDOORS CLUB: Thank you to all those who purchased plants from the Columneetza Greenhouse. The money raised will go towards our field trip to the Nazko Lake chain and other Greenologist activities. Greenologists will be spending five days canoeing this lake chain and Ms. Zalay's Grade 7 Environmental Education class will be canoeing the Beaver Valley lakes. Thank you to the Mitchell Odyssey Foundation, the WL Lions and the WL Lioness Club who also supported the Outdoor Education Academy. We were able to purchase great quality sleeping bags and rain gear from a local store. SALMON TRIP 2016: Applications are being accepted for the 2016 Salmon Trip. See Mrs. Riplinger, Mrs. Nowotny, or Ms. Mayall for information. This trip will be in late September. The goal is to appreciate how a watershed works—the animals, the plants, the water, the geography and how humans fit in. Each student is required to do 5 hours of stewardship work this spring with the WL Campus Enviro Club, the Columneetza Greenies, or Scout Island Nature Centre. During the summer, you can do stewardship work directly with Scout Island Nature Centre. Contact Sue Hemphill at 398-8532 to arrange it. MATHLETES: Grade 7-9 students successfully participated in a variety of Math contests this year including Gauss, Pascal, Canadian Math League, and TRU High School Competition. Winners of these contests will be announced at the year-end assemblies but all students who participated should be proud of taking the challenge. Thank you to PAC for supporting our academic endeavors! CONGRATULATIONS! Maria DiMarco was selected as one of 36 young women throughout Canada to attend the University of Waterloo Women in Computer Science camp. This week-long camp found Maria at lectures, learning how to design computer programs, and working with circuits.
