Job Description:
The Operations Specialist is a self-starter, who needs little day-to-day supervision with an ability to
research solutions and solve problems in the following three primary areas:
 Non-incident – maintains the Kenyon Crisis Management Center (CMC). Ensures full time
commercial and administrative staff is trained to operate the CMC until replaced by team
members.
 Health and safety functions to include weekly Fire Safety checks and annual evacuation.
 Incident and active operations: activates the Kenyon Crisis Management Center, and then
deploys the Incident Management Center. In support of the Vice-President manages the
administrative functions, including billing and operational close out procedures.
 May also fulfill duties of a deployable Senior Incident Director, managing and supervising
team members and providing core operational services.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
 Knowledge of own department and other departments interactions within Kenyon including
Crisis Communications, Kenyon International Call Center, Finance, Commercial,
administration and legal.
 Knowledge of Kenyon policies and procedures used during deployments to include
financial, administrative and team member management policies.
 Regularly review and update all Kenyon Operations Manuals, on a yearly or ad hoc basis.
 Knowledgeable of international laws and organizations that effect deployments.
 Assist the VP of Operations and Team Member Manager to select, recruit, train and
supervise new Kenyon team members worldwide. Be familiar with experience and
capabilities of team members.
 Update and amend Team Member training as necessary.
 Knowledge of mental health and medical support for Kenyon Personnel, team members and
families during deployments to ensure that the nature of the disaster, with its stresses and
strains, does not negatively impact morale and welfare of the team.
 Supervise operations personnel in support of the VP of Operations as needed.
 Knowledgeable of operational equipment such as morgue kits, personal effects kit and
personal deployment gear. Supports the VP of Operations with the maintenance, cleanliness
and up keep of UK response inventory and warehouse functions.
 Provide assistance to conferences, symposiums & meetings for activities operational in
scope.
 Through research and practical experience suggests new standards for operations.
 Write articles and documents for clients, governments and Kenyon’s internal newsletters
regarding operations.
 Additional duties as assigned.
Abilities required:
 On call 24/7, 365 days a year to support deployments.
 Must be available to travel as much as 80% of the year if required for operational response
for periods of 3 weeks or more in duration.
 Able to work, as required, long hours during deployments.
 Able to independently lift up to 25 kilograms without the assistance of material handling
equipment.
 Flexible to work in the office, warehouse or disaster field environments.
 Ability to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision, and the application
of good analytical, planning and interpersonal skills (team player, proactive and assertive).
 Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
 Ability to produce worksheets, documents and presentations using Microsoft Office Excel,
Word and PowerPoint with a high standard of both written and spoken English.
Requires minimum of :
 3 A-Levels at A*-C grade, or equivalent education. Evidence of continued professional
development in the area of airline emergency response, disaster management and/or crisis
intervention strongly preferred.
Reports directly to the VP of Operations.
