Brief History of The People’s Improvement Trust The People’s Improvement Trust (Estd. 1944) • Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar conceptualized the development of Public hall in 1938 and started generating fund • The People’s Improvement Trust (erstwhile The Scheduled Caste’s Improvement Trust) was established by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in 1944 • Dr. Ambedkar appealed to The Princes and People of India to donate funds for development of Social Centre in Bombay • With the funds generated, Trust purchased a piece of land admeasuring 1946 sq.m. at Gokuldas Pasta Lane, Dadar East, Mumbai in 1944 • The Scheduled Caste’s Improvement Trust was registered under the Chairmanship of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in 1952 • Trustees in the year 2004 changed the name from The Scheduled Caste’s Improvement Trust to The People’s Improvement Trust for the benefit of the larger section of the society • Constructed a building at a cost of Rs. 35000/and shifted printed press (Bharat Bhushan printing press) from Naigaon to Current location in 1947. Govt. of Maharashtra has changed the reservation to Public Hall and Institutional use in December 2015 • Total cost for the construction of 17 storey building with all the amenities is Rs. 60 crores, out of which Rs. 10.0 Crores has been sanctioned by Government of Maharashtra • The Trust has to generate remaining funds of Rs. 50 crores through donations This is an ideal opportunity to be a part of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s dream project and one can share the merits by personal contribution as well as through CSR funds. !!
