Angkor Travel Photography

Who we are
Angkor Travel Photography, established in 2012, is a partnership
between 3 professional photographers all based in Siem Reap,
providing guided photography workshops throughout Cambodia. With
every member of our team having lived in the country for multiple
years, our extensive local knowledge and long-standing relationships
enable us to provide an unrivalled experience to all of our guests.
Our team:
RÉGIS BINARD has served as a freelance photographer for almost 20 years, travelling all over the world working for
magazines and non-profits, as well as shooting weddings and commercial assignments. From 2000 to 2009, while
still residing in France, he covered weddings all throughout Europe before orienting his career more towards travel
photography. First working with French non-profit Au Fil de l’Eau, he travelled throughout Central and Southeast Asia
as both a photographer and project manager. In 2011, Régis moved to Cambodia, wherefrom he has supported local
NGOs, corporations, and editorial outlets ever since. Régis prides himself on creating images that are documentary in
nature, with no posed images; his natural rapport with people and communication skills enable him to have meaningful
interactions with people, translating into more meaningful photographs.
CHRIS CUSICK is a British travel photographer who relocated to Asia in 2011. Based first in South Korea, alongside his
role as a language instructor, he ran photography and post-processing workshops, contributed to both local and Englishspeaking editorial communities, and even served as an editor for a startup photography magazine. In 2014, Chris decided
it was time to "quit the dayjob," seeking to rely solely on his photography as his source of income. This challenge took him
to Cambodia, where he has since gone on to support a number of international non-profits and commercial enterprises,
as well as continuing his long-standing passion as a photo educator and workshop leader. Chris' images, published in the
UK and throughout Asia, are characterised by dynamic light and incredibly candid moments made possible only by a real
appreciation of the people he photographs. He joined the Angkor Travel Photography team in late 2015.
ALESSANDRO VANNUCCI is an award-winning Italian freelance photographer, specialising in reportage and social
photography, as well documenting the development of non-profits through his photography and videography. Alessandro
has a vast amount of experience as a photography and filmmaking workshop host, having led photographic adventures all
over the world including Myanmar, India, Vietnam, Laos, Morocco and Turkey. His workshops cover a wide array of subjects
and techniques from time-lapse and infrared photography to iPhoneography and post-production software, as well as
more traditional stills photography. Having called Cambodia home for the last four years, he is incredibly passionate about
documenting the local culture and the magnificent Angkor Archaeological complex, using his unrivalled local knowledge
to uncover photographic opportunities that otherwise wouldn't be available.

Cambodia is more than only Angkor: Let us show you her modern culture. The day begins with a sprawling local market to
see local vendors selling fresh produce and other interesting wares. This is one of the finest ways to experience local life
and presents us with incredible people photography opportunites. We follow the market with a trip to Siem Reap's oldest
Buddhist pagoda, where we'll see ancient murals and carvings as well as have the chance to interact with Buddhist monks
(please note that it cannot be guaranteed that the monks will always be available to talk with or photograph).
Break back at the hotel for lunch.
After lunch we visit Kampong Pluk, a village nestled at the edge of the Tonlé Sap lake. Take a boat out to the lake before
returning to the stilted housing village, where we'll have the opportunity to experience local life quite unlike anywhere
else, as well as take in a remote Buddhist pagoda, wherefrom we return by boat. Highly recommended for photographers.

DAY 1:
In the morning, we'll visit a selection of lesser-known temples chosen for their prevailing light conditions, concentrating
on the most photogenic temples away from the main tourist trail. Temples normally covered in the morning include
Preah Kahn, Ta Som, and Banteay Kdei. This schedule is always adapted to seasonal variances to show you the very best
of Angkor at the time of your visit.
Tour duration: 07:00 -11:30 / 14:00 - Sunset (return to hotel for lunch break).
DAY 2:
Today we visit the most supreme of the Khmer temples, all at the optimum moment in terms of light conditions.
Furthermore, we'll employ our years of experience photographing Angkor to avoid the crowds as best as possible. We'll
also visit a few more hidden spots away from the main tourist trail. Temples normally covered during today's tour include
Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm, Angkor Thom (various Gates and Preah Palilay), Bayon, and Pre Rup, though the schedule may vary
according to light and weather conditions. Schedules can also be customised.
Tour duration: 04:45 -11:30 / 14:00 – Sunset (return to hotel for lunch break).
For the 3 day tour, you can choose between the day 3 or 4 depending on your interests (prices on request).
DAY 3:
After a drive through the dense jungle we visit the spectacular waterfall and also a beautiful pagoda nestled high up in
the Kulen mountain-range. When the water levels are sufficiently low, we can explore the ancient carvings in the River
of 1,000 Lingas in the riverbed upstream from the waterfall. Phnom Kulen is an incredibly sacred place for Buddhists in
Cambodia, and there are plenty of interesting photographic opportunities with regards local custom and religion, as well
as the chance to make some beautiful long-exposure images of the riverbed carvings and the waterfall. On the way back to
Siem Reap we stop at a local night market famed for its vibrancy where we'll take in a sunset, blue hour, and also introduce
you to an array of night photography subjects away from the overly-touristy markets in the centre of town.
Tour duration: 09:00 - 19:30 (packed lunch included)
